RESOLUTION NO. 04-2017 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, EFFECTUATING THE EXECUTIVE'S RENAMING OF CERTAIN STREETS WHEREAS, pursuant to Indiana Code § 36-7-4-405(c), City of South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg has renamed a portion of the street commonly known as St. Joseph Street and Michigan Street between Western Avenue and Marion Street to "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Indiana Code § 36-7-4-405(c), Mayor Pete Buttigieg has also renamed a portion of the street commonly known as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Washington Street and Lincoln Way West to "Charles Martin Sr. Dr'; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Indiana Code § 36-7-4-405(h), notice of the renaming of a municipal street shall be provided no later than the last day of the month in which the street is to be renamed, to the following: 1. The County Circuit Court Clerk or board of registration; 2. The statewide 911 board; 3. The United States Postal Service; and 4. Any other person or body that the Mayor considers appropriate to receive such notice; and WHEREAS, the City of South Bend Board of Public Works desires to complete all notifications as required under Indiana Code § 36-7-4-405(h); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of South Bend Board of Public Works as follows: SECTION I. The Board shall hereby execute all notifications required under Indiana Code § 36-7-4-405(h) to effectuate the renaming of a portion of the street commonly known as St. Joseph Street and Michigan Street between Western Avenue and Marion Street to "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd". SECTION II. The Board shall also execute all notifications required under Indiana Code § 36-7-4-405(h) to effectuate the renaming of a portion of the street commonly known as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Washington Street and Lincoln Way West to "Charles Martin Sr. Dr". SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect after its adoption by the City of South Bend Board of Public Works. ADOPTED at a meeting of the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana held on January 24, 2017, at 1308 County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana 46601.
