November 12, 1968. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 <br />A.M., on November 12, 1968, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />APPOINTMENTS - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon recommendation of Fife Chief Joseph L. 2urat, upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following appointments to <br />the South Bend Fire Department, effective November 16, 1968: <br />David Daren - 727 N#ier Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />Michael Dombrowski - 715 N. Brookfield, South Bend, Indiana <br />Vincent Chrapliwy - 407 E. Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana <br />James Flowers - 1713 N. O'Brien Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />APPOINTMENT - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton, the Board, upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, approved the appointment to the <br />South Bend Police Department of Robert William Peterson, 215 S. Notre Dame <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. <br />APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were <br />received and filed, and.referred to the Personnel Director for further process- <br />ing: <br />Lillian Catherine Baker <br />Charles William Harrison <br />Richard Lee Rozmarynowski <br />Earl Thomas Wisniewski <br />APPLICATION - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The application for appointment to the Fire Department of Harold Robert Bailey <br />was received and filed, and referred to the Personnel Director for further <br />processing. <br />PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT - ALLEY BETWEEN FREMONT AND ,MEADE <br />A petition for street light at the alley between Fremont and Meade, signed by <br />Robert and Helen Cardiff, 1145 N. Fremont Street and 11 others, was filed with <br />the Board and referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET SIGNS APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the following street signs: <br />The removal of "Yield" sign at Dubail and Vernon Streets, to be <br />replaced with "Stop" signs. <br />The installation of three two-hour limit signs at 1015 Dubail to 1021 Dubail. <br />PARKING METERS REINSTALLED - 100 Block of East LaSalle <br />The Traffic. -.Engineer reports all of the parking meters have been reinstalled in <br />the 100 block of E. LaSalle where the bridge sidewalks and railings have been <br />replaced. <br />ONE -HOUR PARKING METERS APPROVED - 100 BLOCK LINCOLNWAY EAST <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of three one -hour <br />parking meters on the south side of, -the 100 block of Lincolnway..iast. <br />
