Q)1 <br />REQUEST TO ATTEND MEETING IN SAVANNA, I LL I NO I S - <br />The request of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for Lieutenant Carl Lederer to attend <br />the Fire, Radiation and Explosives Hazards Class #34, in Savanna, Illinois, November <br />4 through 7, 1968, and to use a red car for transportation to and from Savanna, <br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously approved by the Board, was granted. <br />REPORT OF INSPECTOR TERRY ON SAN DIMAS CALIFORNIA MEETING <br />The report of Inspector Glenn Terry of the Police Department on the meeting held <br />in San Dimas, California October 14 through 17, 1960, on the Prevention and Control <br />of Civil Disorder, was reviewed by the Board and ordered filed. <br />REQUEST FOR PURCHASE OF RADIO SPEECH SCRAMBLERS - RADIO AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS <br />Upon recommendation of the Radio Department, Police Department and City Engineer, <br />the Board, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, approved the re- <br />quest for the purchase of radio speech scramblers for the Radio Department and <br />Police Department, and set November 12, 1968, as the date for receiving bids. And <br />the Clerk is directed to advertise for bids in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri= <br />County News on November 1 and November 8, 1968. <br />PETITION FOR STREET LIGHT - 1622 Greenwood Drive <br />The petition of Mrs. Leo A. Parkus, 1662 Greenwood Drive and six others for a street <br />light at 1662 Greenwood Drive was filed and referred to the Traffic Engineer <br />for investigation and recommendation. <br />REMOVAL OF FOUR-WAY STOP SIGNS - EDISON AND IRONWOOD <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for the removal of the present four-way <br />stop signs at the intersection of Edison and Ironwood, to be replaced with <br />traffic signals. <br />ELIMINATION OF 30 MINUTE PARKING AT 1345 and 1357 N. IRONWOOD DRIVE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board,appr.oved_the <br />recomniendat i on.,,of i the:-Traff is Engineer to e 1 im i nate" the present 30 minute parking <br />time at 1345 and 1357 N. Ironwood Drive and to prohibit parking for a distance <br />of approximately 250 feet on all other approaches to the intersection of Edison <br />and Ironwood. <br />RECOMMENDATION FOR RECOGNITION AWARDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The recommendation of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat to award a certificate.of <br />recognition by the City to firemen performing extraordinary service and acting <br />beyond the call of duty was considered by the Board and postponed for further <br />action after consultation with the Mayor. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS for the period 10/19/68 to 10/25/68 were ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before <br />at 11:15 A.M. <br />ATT ST • ' <br />Clerk <br />the Board, the meeting adjourned <br />A th W Frisk <br />r ur <br />Llo S.
