�;372 <br />October 21, 1968. <br />.A regular meeting of'the Board of Public Works -and Safety met at 10:00 A.M. on <br />October 21, 1968, with Arthur W. Frisk and James A. Bickel present. The <br />minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE - POLICE DEPARTMENT - EDWARD (. FRIEND <br />Upon the recommendation of Chief•of Police Thomas McNaughton, the Board approved <br />an extension of sick leave for Edward I. Friend until November 1, 1968. <br />RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT - ROBERT STAHL <br />Upon the recommendati,on.of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat, the Board <br />accepted and upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, approved the <br />retirement of Robert Stahl, effective October 17, 1968, Mr. Stahl having been <br />appointed to the Fire Department on October 19, 1948, and having served more <br />than 20 years. <br />REQUEST FOR CHANGE IN DRESS SHIRTS - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for a change in dress :shirts for the <br />assistant and battalion chiefs from navy blue to white shirts with black tie, <br />with short sleeves and no tie for summer and long sleeves with tie for winter. <br />REQUEST FOR FIREMEN TO ATTEND EMERGENCY AID COURSE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re- <br />quest of Acting Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for firemen Victor Richart, Richard <br />Lentz and Charles Freeland to attend the Eighth Advanced Course in Emergency <br />Aid and Transportation, Chicago Committee on Trauma of the American College <br />of Surgeons,,Chicago, Illinois on October 30 and 31 and on November 1 and 2, <br />1968, and for them to use a red car for the trip to and from Chicago. <br />STREET SIGNS APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation of <br />the Traffic Director for the installation of the following street signs: <br />STOP sign on Bissell at Twyckenham <br />STOP sign on -Miner at Twyckenham <br />STOP sign on Sorin at Twyckenham <br />PARKING REMOVAL ON HILDRETH STREET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of the Traffic Engineer to prohibit parking on the north side of Hildreth Street, <br />from Greenlawn to the west property line of 1713 Hildreth, for the reason that <br />Hildreth Street at this location is only 30 feet wide and an increased volume <br />of traffic is anticipated due to the construction of a new parking facility <br />in the 1700 block of Hildreth Street. <br />SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER'S BOND APPROVED <br />Special police officer's bond on behalf of Marilyn Jean Allison to 10/31/69 <br />approved by the Board and ordered filed. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS for the period 10/9/68 to 10/19/68 received and filed. <br />REPORT ON WEED CUTTING COMPLAINTS - ST.
