August 26, 1968 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 A.M. <br />on August 26, 1968, with all.memberspresent. The minutes of the previous <br />meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT - STEVE L. LACKNER <br />Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Cecil McHenry, the Board, upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, approved the application and declaration for'retire- <br />ment-of Steve L. Lackner, effective September 5, 1968, having been appointed <br />February 6, 1948, and having completed more than 20 years of service with the <br />Fire Department. <br />FIRE HYDRANTS - NAPOLEON AND EDDY (NORTHERN INDIANA CHILDREN'SS HOSPITAL' <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Fire Department and the Engineering,Department, in view <br />of the addi.tion to the Northern Indiana Children's Hospital, additional <br />personnel and the nature of the patients, that two adeitional fire hydrants be <br />located on North Eddy Street as follows: <br />�. <br />270 feet north of the <br />existing fire <br />hydrant at <br />Napoleon and Eddy. <br />545 feet north of the <br />existing fire <br />hydrant at <br />Napoleon and Eddy. <br />INSTALLATION OF STREET SIGNS <br />- WESTERN AND <br />CHAPIN STREETS <br />U <br />V <br />Traffic engineer reports the <br />installation of "YIELD" <br />signs and posts on the <br />southeast and southwest corners of Western <br />and Chapin <br />Streets. <br />STREET LIGHT PETITION - ACROSS FROM 1209 HILLCREST <br />Petition for a street light across from 1209 Hillcrest, signed by C. H. <br />Poehlman and six other residents, was filed with the Board and referred to the <br />City Traffic Engineer for investigation and recommendation. <br />RET(1TION FOR FOUR-WAY STOP SIGN AT DIAMOND AND VAN BUREN STREETS <br />A petition,signed by Thord T. Hall and.some.60 others, for a four-wpy stop <br />at Diamond Diamond Avenue and Van Buren Street was filed with the Board, and <br />upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, was referred to the Traffic <br />Engineering Department for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS for the period 8/14/68 to 8/23/68 were ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned <br />at 11:45 A.M. <br />rthur W.
