August 19, 1968. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 <br />A.M. on August 19, 1968, with Arthur W. Frisk and Lloyd S. Taylor present. <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />REQUEST TO ATTEND INDIANA FIRE CHIEFS' ASSN. CONFERENCE - ANTHONY ROMEO <br />The request of Fire Chief Cecil McHenry for Anthony Romeo to attend the <br />Indiana Fire Chiefs' Association Conference at Lafayette, Indiana, on <br />August 28, 1968, at which meeting Fireman Romeo had .been asked to present <br />a program, was, on motion made, seconded and passed, approved by the Board. <br />The request of Fire Chief McHenry to attend said conference on August 28; <br />29 and 30, 1968, was, upon motion made, seconded and carried, approved <br />by the Board. <br />REQUEST TO ATTEND BUILDING OFFICIALS' CONFERENCE OF AMERICA AT <br />JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA - LTS. WALTER BUTLER AND ROBERT RIBA <br />The request made on August 14, 1968, by Fire Chief McHenry for Lts. Walter <br />Butler and Robert Riba of the Inspection Bureau,to attend the Building <br />Officials Conference of Americanat Jeffersonville, Indiana from August 19 <br />through August 21, 1968, accompanying Forrest West, Building Commissioner, <br />approved by Board members, On August -14,1968,,is hereby confirmed. <br />APPLICATIONS - POLICE .DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were <br />filed and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: <br />Larry Eugene Bennet <br />Robert Ronald Shaffer <br />Fred James Stockbarger <br />Bruce E. Taylor <br />APPOINTMENTS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton and due in- <br />vestigation by the Board, the following appointments were made to the <br />Police Department; effective September 1, 1968: <br />Thomas James DeRue <br />Gary Gene Stansbury <br />REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT - $1000.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Chief of Police <br />Thomas McNaughton for the transfer of $1000.00 from Account #P-11 (services <br />personal) to Account #361 (photo supplies) was approved, and referred to the <br />Legal Department for the preparation of an ordinance for the consideration <br />of the Common Council. <br />POLICE RADIO TO WINSTON VAZ, F.E.P.C. DIRECTOR <br />Upon motion made, seconded end carried, at the request of Mr. Vaz and with <br />the approval of the Police Department, the Board approved the assignment of <br />a police radio to the personal automobile of Mr. Vaz in connection with his <br />work as Director of the Human Relations and Fair Employment Practices <br />Commission, Unit number being #97. <br />INNER BELT STREET LIGHTING - CHAPIN STREET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of the following: <br />that the 16 existing 10,000 L INC UG street lights on Chapin Street, <br />between Washington and Western,be increased to 20,000 L MV UG. <br />The location of the existing poles to remain the same. Cost <br />presently being $864.00. Cost of recommended system $1824.00 per yr. <br />
