0 <br />June 10, 1968. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held at 10:00 A.M. <br />on June 10, 1968. Present were Arthur W. Frisk and James A. Bickel. The minutes <br />of the last meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />APPOINTMENTS - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon recommendation of Fire Chief Cecil C. McHenry, upon motion, made, <br />seconded and carried, the following appointments were made as of 6/10/68: <br />Leo Joseph Ryback - 1020 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana <br />Irvin Peter Nowacki, Jr. - 24091 State Road #2, South Bend, Indiana <br />Irvin John Nowick4 - 19533 Yoder -Street, South Bend, Indiana <br />Notification of such applicants being accepted for membership in the Firemen's <br />Pension Fund is filed. <br />RESIGNATION OF DAVID W. FENN FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The resignation from the South Bend Police Department of Officer David W. Fenn <br />was accepted by the Board, effective as of 6/16/68. Officer Fenn is moving <br />with his family to California. <br />REQUEST 'FOR'LT KENNETH McDONALD TO TRAVEL TO LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY <br />On June 6, 1968, the Board approved the request of Chief of Police McNaughton <br />of 6/6/68 for Lt. Kenneth McDonald to use mechanical #30 to go to Louisville, <br />Kentucky, 1-eaving 6/8/68 and returning 6/9/68. <br />REMOVAL OF PARKING METERS - 400 BLOCK N. MICHIGAN <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of Clem F— Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, for the removal of meters #2 and #4 on <br />the east side of the 400 block of N. Michigan Street in order to provide for <br />a safe and efficient left turn from Madison to northbound Michigan Street, <br />and for the prohibiting of parking in these spaces. <br />INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHT APPROVED - HUEY STREET BETWEEN BERTRAND AND ROGER <br />Upon the recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department, the Board <br />approved the installation of a midblock street light on Huey Street, between <br />Bertrand and Roger Streets. The cost to the City will be $3.15 per month or <br />$37.80 per year for a 4000 Lumen incandescent street light. <br />STREET SIGNS CORRECTED - TAYLOR AND MADISON STREETS <br />In response to a letter from Mrs. Anna Pappas, the Traffic Engineering Department <br />checked the signs at the corner of Taylor and Madison Streets and has ordered <br />additional signage and -the relocation of certain signs to correct the situation. <br />STREET LIGHT PETITION - 32ND STREET BETWEEN VINE AND PLEASANT STREETS <br />A petition for street light at 32nd Street between Vine and Pleasant Streets <br />signed by Mrs. Georgia Booher and 15 others was filed with the Board, and was <br />referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />for the period 5/29/68 to 6/7/68 were ordered filed. <br />There being no further business to come before <br />11:15 A.M. <br />ATTES - <br />d� <br />Clerk <br />the Board, the meeting adjourned at <br />Arthur W.
