[334 <br />May13, 1968 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order at <br />10:00 A.M., with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the F ire Department were filed and <br />referred to the Personnel Department for. processing: Felix Judd Esarey, James Edward <br />Pettit, Larry Gene Szczepanski. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT TO POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed <br />and referred to the Personnel Department for processing William Louis Bernhardt, <br />Louis Adam But], Chester Vincent Chrapliwy, Jr., and John David Finch. <br />PROMOTIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton the promotion of the <br />following officers from patrolman to sergeant was approved by the Board: <br />William Floring, Charles Mahank, Robert Bella, Henry Kruszewski, Robert Urban, <br />Cloyde Coffman, Ralph Bukowski, Norman Collmer, Louis Kujawski, and Richard Chlebek. <br />RETIREMENT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - EARL A. DHOORE <br />Upon recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton the Board accepted and <br />approved the retirement of Earl A. Dhoors and application for pension fund <br />effective 5/15/68, officer Dhoors having served 20 years in the Police Department. <br />1 <br />RETIREMENT OF MANUAL SADURAL FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - RESCINDED <br />The retirement application of officer Manual Sadural having been received <br />inadvertently, and acted upon by the Board, the following resolution in reference <br />thereto was adopted: <br />"WHEREAS, a communication indicating the desire of Manual Sadural to <br />retire was inadvertently submitted to the Board on May 6, 1968, and <br />"WHEREAS, the Board acted upon such communication,, <br />"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the action taken by the Board <br />on said communication is hereby rescinded and declared to be annulled." <br />RETIREMENT OF PAUL L. FLARY FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Cecil McHenry, the Board accepted and approved <br />the declaration of retirement and application for pension fund of Paul L. Flary <br />effective 5/17/68, having been appointed to the Fire Department 7/16/46 and <br />having served 21 years and 10 months. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - 1400 Block Sori6 Street <br />A letter of request for a street light in the 1400 block of Sorin Street was <br />received from Robert 0. Laven, 3rd District Councilman and referred to the Traffic <br />Engineer for investigation and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHTS APPROVED <br />Hartman Estates.. Hartman Builders having requested the lighting of a portion of its <br />new development, also residents of Corpus Drive in Hartman Estates also having <br />requested additional street lighting, the following recommendation of the Traffic <br />Engineer was approved by the Board: that four 4000 L, OH, WP street lights be <br />installed at the north end of Corpus Drive and one 4000 L, OH, WP. The cost to <br />the City would be $15.75 per month or $189.00 per year. <br />Northwest Housing Project Area. The recommendation of the Traffic Engineer for <br />the installation of two 000 L, OH, WP street lights, one each, mid block on <br />Meade and Freement, was approved by the Board. The cost to the City would be <br />$6.30 per month or $75.00 per year. <br />
