320 <br />March 25, 1968 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:60 <br />A.M., on March 25, 1968. <br />APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for employment with the Police Department were, <br />filed and referred to Personnel for processing: <br />Dennis Jan Bailey <br />Gordon LeRoy Hoke <br />Robert Walter Liszewski <br />Gary Gene Stansbury <br />Adrian Lee Way <br />APPLICATIONS - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for employment with the Fire Department were filed <br />and referred to the Personnel Department for processing: <br />Stephen William Danielowicz, III <br />John Francis Platz <br />REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL SICK LEAVE FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT - EDMUND HAGENIERS <br />Officer Edmund Hageniers, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, and <br />upon the recommendation of Chief of Police McNaughton, was granted one <br />additional week of sick leave from March 25, 1968. <br />REQUEST TO ATTEND 16th INTERNATIONAL ARSON SEMINAR — FIRE BN. CHIEF DIEDRICH <br />Fire Battalion Chief William Diedrich, upon motion duly made, seconded and <br />carried, and upon the recommendation of Fire Chief McHenry, was granted <br />permission to attend the 16th International Arson Seminar, from April 8, to <br />12, 1968, in Columbus, Ohio. <br />RETIREMENT FROM FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS OF DERDAK, ZIELINSKI, NAESSENS <br />Applications and declarations for retirement from the South Bend N to De- <br />partment were filed with the Board as follows: <br />Victor Derdak <br />- Appointed <br />3/17/48. <br />Retirement <br />date <br />3/31/68. <br />20 <br />yrs. <br />Stanley Zielinski'- <br />Appointed <br />4/3/48. <br />Retirement <br />date <br />4/5/68. <br />20 <br />yrs. <br />August Naessens - Appointed 11/l/45. Retirement date 4/7/68. 20 yrs. 4 mos. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - FLORENCE STREET - BETWEEN JOHNSON _&BROOKFIELD) <br />The request of the Parish of St. Stanislaus Church for the installation of a <br />street light on Florence Street, midway between Johnson and Brookfield <br />Streets, was filed and referred to the Traffic Engineer. <br />STREET LIGHTS APPROVED <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the following recommendations of the <br />Traffic Engineer for street lights were approved bjr;the Board: <br />Memorial Hospital Request. Department recommends increasing the 2 4,000 L <br />street light on Main Street opposite the Hospital to 7,000 LMV. The additional <br />cost would be 50�/mo. (3.15 to 3.75) or $6.00/yr. ($37.80 to $43,&80). <br />Also recommends the installation of a 10,000 L INC UG S.P. at the alley <br />intersection on Navarre between Michigan and Main. The cost to the city <br />would be $8.20/mo. or $98.40/yr. <br />500-600 block of S. Carlisle. The Department recommends installation of <br />a 4,000 lumen, OH, WP street light between 526-530 S.
