February 5, 1968 <br />Thbll.t6gular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order <br />at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting <br />were reviewed and approved by the Board. <br />APPLICATION - SPECIAL POLICE - GERALD E ROSS <br />A letter of recommendation from Chief McNaughton was received for Gerald E. Ross <br />who is applying for a Special Police Appointment. <br />The motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously passed to approve the <br />application. <br />STREET LIGHT APPLICATION ALLEY CONNECTING BROADWAY AND PENN.AVE AND MARIETTA <br />AND RUSH STREET, <br />A request was received signed by Mrs. Kelsey Critton and Kelsey Critton to have <br />a street light placed at the intersection of the alleys connecting Broadway and <br />Penn. and Marietta and Rush Sts. in the 600 Block. <br />The request was filed and referred to the engineering department. <br />STREET LIGHT REQUEST: ALLEY INTERSECTION AT REAR OF 615 E. BROADWAY <br />A request was received from Robert 0.'Laven, president of the common council <br />to review the need for a street light installation at the rear of 615 E. <br />Broadway. <br />The <br />request was filed and referred to <br />the Engineering <br />Department. <br />REGBEST <br />EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE FOR <br />TF,�On1fAS J. QUIRK_,, <br />FIREMAN <br />Fire Chief Cecil C. McHenry appeared before the Board and presented a request <br />to grant an extension of sick leave for Fireman Thomas J. Quirk, who was <br />seriously burned in December. <br />It was moved and seconded that Thomas J. Quirk, who is in intensive care <br />unit at St. Joseph Hospital be given an extension of thirty days sick .leave. <br />Lloyd Taylor abstained from signing the request but the motion was carried <br />two to one. <br />RETIREMENT OF FIREMEN DANIEL R. CUNNINGHAM AND ROBERT EDWARD WAECHTER <br />1 <br />Fire Chief Cecil McHenry submitted a letter of application and declaration <br />for retirement for Daniel R. Cunningham who was appointed on 9/16/46, re- <br />tirement date of February 2, 1968, having served 21 years, and Robert Edward Waechter, <br />appointed-ll/l/4.1, retirement date, February 1, 1968, having served 20 years. <br />It was-moved,_duly seconded'and uanimously passed by the Board to approve <br />these*retire'ments. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The applications of John Walter Sieczkarek, Jr., Alan John Dzialakiewicz, and <br />Glen Jay Eash were filed with the Board of Works for the Fire Department. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS. <br />The street light outage reports for the week were approved by the Board. <br />The next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 1j, as City Hall <br />will'be Ilosed on the 12th because of Lincoln's birthday. <br />There being no further business, the meeting w ailjour ;., <br />Frisk <br />Jambs Bickel <br />5tiodd aylor <br />
