November 6, 1967 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works met a t 10:00 A. M. with all members <br />present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />CMTLAINT AND POSSIBLE CORRECTIONS OF FELLOWS STREET <br />Mr. David Sims, Director of the Southeast Side Neighborhood Center entered a <br />complaint on behalf of the -.:.Center in regards to recent accidents that have taken place <br />in the vicinity of Fellows Street between Broadway and Sample and in particular <br />the death of an eight year old boy recently. <br />The complaint contained the following suggestions: <br />1. No parking on either side of Fellows Street from Broadway to Sample. <br />2. Speed limit of 20 miles per hour and signs posted. <br />3. Immediate installation of a four way stop on Fellows and Wenger and <br />consider adding signs to warn vehicles to give right of way to pedestrians. <br />4. Rigid enforcement of traffic violations by the Police Department. <br />A copy of this letter was referred to the traffic engineering department and <br />Chairman DuComb dictated a letter to the Police Chief suggesting the following <br />improvements: <br />A. Remove all parking from Fellows Street entirely between Broadway and <br />Sample. <br />B. The possibility of reducing the speed limit from thirty to twenty miles <br />per hour and the possibility of a four gray stop at Fellows and Wenger. <br />Yx. DuComb also asked the police department to advise the Board of Works and Safety <br />as to their decision in this matter. <br />The problem is under study in the TrafficEngineering Department. <br />APPLICATIONS; Police Department <br />An application for the police department was received from Robert Albert Heick <br />and was filed by the Board. <br />APPLICATION; FIRE DEPARMl- ENT <br />An application gor the fire department was received from Ralph Radecki and was <br />filed by the Board. <br />APE CIAL P OLI CM.,UN' S BOND <br />A special policeman's bond was approved by the Board for 1,iarily)4ean Allison. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />The street light outage reports for the week were approved by the Board and ordered <br />filed. <br />CHAIFEAN <br />ATTEST: -RICIL4R440,T.
