1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />October 9, 1967 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order at <br />10:00 A. M. with all members present. <br />RESIGNATION OF THGUS GRANT <br />Officer Thomas Grant having this date presented to the Board of Public Works and <br />Safety his request to resign after having completed twenty years of service to <br />the South Bend Police Department, the same is hereby approved unanimously to be <br />effective October 15, 1967. <br />TRANSFER OF FUNDS - SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief' Thomas McNaughton appeared before the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />andrequested a transfer of funds in the Police Department. <br />RESOLution #15: "It is hereby resolved unanimously by the Board of Public Works <br />and Safety that $100.00 be transferred from P-261(lrlechanical Assistance) to <br />account P-263(Household Laundry and Cleaning, all being in the same,general fund. t1 <br />INDIANA LEGISLATURE ACTS OF 12L &&ENDED <br />By resolution unanimously approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety, -the <br />Rules and Regulations -of the South Bend Police Department, Section #4.49 and'of the <br />South Bend Fire Department #cR543 are each of them ammended to read as follows: <br />"SECTION 1. Place of residence of policemen and firemen -- Cities of first, second. <br />-third, fourth and fifth classes. Members of the police and fire departments of <br />cities the first, second, third, fourth and fifth classes shall reside within the <br />county in which said city is located and said residence shall be within fifteen (15) <br />miles of the corporate limits of such city: Provided however, That any member of <br />such police or fire department shall live outside the corporate limits of such <br />city and within fifteen (15) miles thereof, shall have adequate means of transportation <br />into such city and maintain in his residence telephone service with such city: <br />Provided further, 7}owever, that in cities of the ifth class, the city council may <br />require policemen and firemen to reside within the corporate limits of such city <br />until any such member has served for five years." <br />APPOINTMENT OF FIRMIEN TURCZYSSKI AND HEIDRICH <br />Fire -Chief Cecil McHenry of the South Bend Fire Department '_Having this date <br />requested the Board of Bublic Works and Safety to appoint Eugene Turczynski, of <br />232 No. Edison St. South Bend and Richard Heidrich, of 1806 So. Kendall St. South <br />Bend, Indiana, to the South Bend Fire Department, and they having passed all physical <br />requirements and having been approved by the Pension Board, the Board of Public <br />Works and Safety resolves unanimously to appoint said men effective October 16, 1967. <br />APPLICATIONS - FIRE DEPARUIENT <br />Applications for the fire department were filed for Brian David Wellsand Thomas <br />Michael Keres. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />The street light outage reports for the week were filed by the Board. <br />�� Lam►' <br />CHA DMIAN <br />1 <br />ATTES : RI J.
