August 28, 1967 <br />1 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order <br />at 10:00 A. M. with members. Robert J. DuComb, James A. Bickel and Llpyd S. Taylor <br />present. <br />PRCUOTION OF POLICE OFFICERS <br />Thomas H. McNaughton, Chief of Police, of the South Bend Police Department, having <br />this date recommended to the Board of P-dblic Works and Safety that the following <br />police officers be promoted to the rank as hereby designated: <br />Lieut. Gerald Knepper to Captain <br />Sergt. Kenneth McDonald to Lieutenant <br />Patrolman Robert Werntz to Sergeant <br />Patrolman Enery Molnar to Detective Sergeant/ <br />The Board of Safety being duly advised, by resolution passed this date, unanimously 4_ <br />appoints these officers to the rank designated effective September 1, 1967. <br />RETIREMENT OF SERGEANT F' W FOSS - SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTU ENT <br />Detective Sergeant F. W. Voss of the South Bend Police Department having filed with the <br />Board his request to retire effective October 7, 1967 by reason of his having completed <br />twenty years of service in that department as of that date, this request is hereby <br />approved by unanimous consent of the Board. <br />RELEASE OF SPECIAL POLICMAAN'S BOND - FERRELC. KERN <br />A special policeman's bond for Ferrel C. Kern was released by the Board. <br />SPECIAL POLICENIEI\T `.. APPOINTMENT <br />Mr. Delbert A. Smith of 52057 Central Avenue was appointed as a Special Police <br />Officer for the Bendix Corporation. <br />,POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />Applications for the police department were filed for Arthur Alex.Langel, Jr. <br />and Dean Allen Tinkel. <br />REgUEST OF FIRE CHIEF TO ATTEND INTERNATIONAL FIRE CHIEFS CONFERENCE. <br />Fire Chief Cecil TvIcHenry requested permission to attend the International Fire <br />Chiefs Conference in SanFrancisco, California September 9th throgghSeptember 14 <br />1967. Approval was granted. <br />RETIREMENT FRU i FIRE DEPARTMENT - RAT40ND M. GORSKI <br />Fireman Raymond M.
