June 26, 1967 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to <br />order at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the previous <br />meeting were read and approved. <br />REQUEST - CARL B, LEDERER - ATTEND'MEETING <br />Fire Chief McHenry requested perr''ssion for Lieutenant Carl B. Lederer to <br />attend a meeting on June 2A- h i he State 'Office Building at Indianapolis. <br />John Klaybor requested that he attend this meeting and his expenses will be <br />paid by the St.'Joseph County Civil Defense office. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER - STOP SIGNS, <br />Clem F. Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, has asked that the following stop signs <br />be installed and recorded in the days minutes: <br />STOP sign & post on Clyde at Randolph <br />STOP sign & post on Clyde at Dayton <br />STOP sign & Post on Clyde at Dubail <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER - PARKING METER TIME LIMIT CHANGE ON WEST COLFAX <br />Gtj <br />Clem F. Hazinski, Director of Traffic Engineering Department has requested <br />that since the business establishments that required twelve minute parking <br />limits on the north side of the 100 block of West Colfax have relocated, it <br />is recommended meters #17 and #19 be changed to one hour meters, leaving <br />meter #21 for short term usage. <br />The request was a pproved by the Board, and the Secretary was instructed to <br />notify the parking meter department. <br />REPORT FRCdUI FIRE CHIEF - LETTERS FRCflUI DONAL D MYERS AMBULANCE SERVICE <br />Fire Chief Cecil McHenry reported that after making an investigation of <br />Mr. Donald Myers, wh6 would like to operate an ambulance system in the City <br />of South Bend by using our radio communications by monitoring the emergency <br />radio calls, he feels that they would be violating the State and Federal <br />regulations by permitting him to monitor the calls, and he feels reluctant <br />in giving him permission. <br />STREET LIGHT RECGWNDATION - REVERE PLACE AND KENTUCKY STREET <br />A recommendation to install a street light at Revere Place and Kentucky Street <br />was approved by the Board after a communication for such recommendation was <br />submitted by Clem Hazinski. <br />I. <br />The area is quite dark and all intersections in this vicinity are illuminated <br />except this particular one. A 4000 lumen street light is.recommended at a <br />cost of $3.15 per month to the City. <br />STREET LIGHT RECOMMENDATION - 1200 BLOCK EAST LASALLE <br />The Board approved a recommendation from Mr. Hazinski to install a street <br />light in the 1200 Block of East LaSalle at a cost of $3.15 per month to the <br />City. <br />PARKING METER REMOVAL - WASHINGTON AND MAIN STREETS <br />Because of the Demolition and construction work at the northwest corner of <br />Washington and Main Streets, it is recommended that parking meters # 1, #3, <br />#5, #7 and #9 be removed from the west side of the 100 block of No. Main St. <br />and meters #1, 3 and 5 be removed the north side of the 200 block of West <br />Washington Street. It is further recommended that meters #2,4 and #6 on the <br />south side of the 200 block of West Washington be removed and parking be <br />prohibited in that half block to permit maneuvering and movement of an <br />additional lane of traffic. The Board approved the recommendation. <br />
