7 <br />March 27 , 1967 <br />1 <br />I <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order at <br />10:00 A. M. with members James A -.'-'.Bickel, and Lloyd Taylor present. The minutes of <br />the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />BIDS: FIRE DEPARTMENT PUMPER <br />This being the date set, sealed bids were presented for a Class A. Pumper. Proof of <br />publication from the South Bend Tribune signed by Robert DeLong and From -the Tri- <br />County.News signed by Alfred Snyder II <br />The following bids were received: <br />AMERICAN LAFRANCE CO VALPARAISO INDIANA <br />Eton -collusion affidavit signed by V. F. Bud Johnson, Sales Representative <br />Bid bond of 10% of the attached bid signed by T. E. Spotts, Asst. Secretary <br />M DA ST FLU & SAFETY EQUIFNEK1 C 1605 PROSPECT ST INDIANAPOLIS 1, Ind <br />Maxim Motor Company, Div. of Seagraves Corp. <br />Non -collusion affidavit signed by,R. F. Casse <br />Bid bond of 10% of the amount of bid signed by R. F. Casse <br />zs q a s-3 <br />A summary of these bids will be found on Page They will be taken under <br />consideration and checked according to specification and the award will be made <br />at the earliest possible date. <br />PROMOTION - POLICE DEPARTAIENT - <br />Mr. Irvin Hampton, Chief of the South Bend Police Department appeared before the <br />Board and asked that the following promotions be made as of April 1, 1967: <br />Officer Albert Poelvoorde to Detective Sergeant and Officer Max Reeder to <br />Detective Sergeant, both reporting to Inspector J. Jerome -Perkins for <br />Assignment. <br />The Board approved the promotions. <br />APPOINTMENTS - SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following men having been -recommended for appointment to the South Bend Police <br />Department by Chief Irvin Hampton, and it having been shown that said applicants <br />are qualified for appointment, it is now hereby ordered by the Board of Public <br />Works and safety that the following men -.be appointed as probationary officers in <br />the Department effective April 3, 1967: <br />Thomas L. Balogh Martin Clem Kruszewski <br />William Clede Harvey James William Linville <br />George Nicholas Hertz Michael D. Palmiter <br />Paul Michael Jewell Daniel Jay Williams <br />Thomas Michael Keres <br />APPLICATION: POLICE DEPARTENT <br />Applications for the South Bend Police Department were received from Martin Zuroff <br />of 2921 Sunnymede Avenue and from Larry Lee Randt of 1203 Dennis Drive and were <br />ordered filed by the Board. <br />TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />Mr. Clem F. Hazinski, traffic director, asked that the following be added to the <br />minutes of the Board: <br />STOP Signs on the SE and NW corners of Anderson at Bulla <br />STOP signs & posts on the NE and SAY corners of King at Anderson <br />Teo"10 HOUR PARKING signs and posts at 1420 - 14 22 Portage Avenue. <br />The preceding were approved by the Board. <br />
