March 13, 1967 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was called to order <br />at 10:00 A. M. with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting <br />were read and approved. <br />RESOLUTION TRANSFER OF FUND'. <br />The South Bend Police Department Chief of Police having this date requested the <br />Board of Safety to make a fund transfer, the Board pursuant to said request <br />approved the following resolution unanimously: <br />Resolution #4: "The sum,, . of $100.00 is hereby ordered transferred from P-212 <br />postage to P-211 Freight." <br />DET. SGT. BROWN RETIREMENT <br />Detective Sgt. Brown having this date submitted to the Board of Safety his <br />request for retirement upon his expiration of twenty one years of service <br />same is hereby, by unanimous resolution of the Board accepted effective <br />March 31, 1967, and said officer is authorized to take his vacation starting <br />three weeks previous to said retirement. <br />CHIEF IRVIN HAMPTON RETIREMENT <br />Mrvin Hampton, Chief of the Police Department having submitted to the Board <br />of Safety his notice of intent to retire after having completed twenty years <br />of service, same his hereby approved unanimously by the Board effective <br />June 5, 1967, said officer is to retire during his vacation commencing <br />on May 12, 1967. <br />EXTENSION OF SICK TIME FLOYD CHRAPLIWY <br />Detective Sergeant Floyd Chrapliwy was given an extension of sick time <br />through March 27th, 1967, after a recommendation of Chief Irvin Hampton. <br />TRAFFIC SIGNS 200 BLOCK NO HILL <br />Mr. Clem Hazinski,.Traffic Director asked that the following be approved by the <br />Board of Works: <br />Change the present 2 Hour Parking signs on the West Side <br />of the 200 block of No. Hill to 30 Minute Parking across <br />from St. Joseph Church. <br />Same was approved. <br />STREET LIGHT PETITION 3000 West Calvert <br />Several residents in the vicinity of 2900 W. Calvert Street to 3000 W. Calvert <br />Street submitted a petition to install a street light at that location. The <br />Board filed the petition and a copy was sent to the Engineers office for study <br />and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT DENIED - VICTORIA STREET <br />Mr. Ralph Wadzinski, Asst. Traffic Engineer submitted a report to the Board <br />recommending that a street light in the 300-499-block of E. Victoria be <br />denied. They will order the I & M to put longer arms over the center of the <br />intersection allowing the light to go around existing trees. <br />POLICE APPLICATIONS <br />APPLications for the Police Department from Henry Lee Underwood and Donald Arthur <br />Roszkowski were filed by the Board. <br />PETITION - STREET LIGHTS ON GREENLAWN <br />Action on a petition to install new 4,000 lumen street lights at the Greenlawn <br />Avenue intersections with Wayne St. and Sum-imede Avenue was deferred until the <br />next meeting. <br />
