December 12, 1966 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was opend at 10:00 <br />with all membgrs present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and <br />approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENT iercme D Kreczmer <br />Jerome D. Kreczmer having been recommended for appointment to the South Bend <br />Police Department by Chief Irvin Hampton and it having been shown that said <br />applicant is qualified to be appointed as a policeman of the South Bend Police <br />Department, it is now hereby ordered by the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />that Jerome D. Kreczmer be appointed as a probationary officer in the <br />Department effective December 1, 1966. <br />INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL PARKING METERS <br />Mr. Clem Hazinski, Director of Traffic Engineering has requested that one -hour <br />}narking meters be installed at the following locations: <br />1. Install one meter; 300 block So. St. Joseph St. on the west <br />side of the street in a space adjacent to present meter P . This <br />is the fifth space south of East Wayne St. <br />�. 2. Install two meters: 200 block South St. Joseph St. on the <br />west side of the street in two spaces adjacent to present meter <br />#23. These are the second and third spaces north of East Wayne <br />Street. <br />3. Install one meter: 100 block of East Wayne Street on the <br />South side of the street in a space adjacent to present meter <br />#14. <br />The Rbard approved the preceding installation. <br />APPROVAL: STREET LIGHT FOR 700 SO 30TH STREET <br />The Board approved a recommendation from Ralph J. Wadzinski, Asst. Traffic <br />Engineer for a 4,000 lumen over -head light at installed at the East-West <br />alley interesection, midblock, un:the 700 block of so. 36th Street, as <br />there is quite a bit of vandalism in the area. <br />APPROVAL: STREET LIGHT FOR 21st STREET <br />The Board approved a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski for a 4,000 Lumen <br />street light be installed midblock at the alley intersection in the 900 <br />block of 21st Street <br />APPROVAL: REVISION OF LIGHTS ON NORTH SHORE BLVD. <br />Mr. Ralph Wadzinski recommended that a revision of Mr. Frostts proposal for <br />a revision of lights on North Shore Drive be approved as follows: <br />1. Increase the existing 4,000 L incandescent 0. H. street light at <br />Lafayette and North Shore to a 7,000 L. Mercury Vapor O. H. street <br />light. This is an increase of $.60/ month to the City <br />2. Remove all indicated street lights as noted by Mr. Frost. <br />3. Delete Mr. Frost's proposal for 4-7000 L.M.V., 0. H. street lights <br />4. Install 3 - 7,000 L., M.V., 0. H. street lights as sh n in Red <br />)on attached map) at approximate -equal distances. <br />The Board approved this revision. <br />APPROVAL: STREET LIGHT FOR FLCRINE COURT <br />The Board approved a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, asst. traffic director <br />that a 4,000 lumen street light repla ce the inadequate 1,000 lumen-'O.-_ght <br />that is at F1ordiva Court at the present time. <br />
