September 26, 1966 <br />1 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was called to order with all <br />members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read andyppproved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Fire Chief McHenry appeared and requested permission to attend the 41st annual <br />Conference of the Indiana Fire Gheefs'Association in Evansville, Indiana on <br />September 28 to 30th, 1966. The Board approved same. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - NEW APPOINTIES <br />Fire Cgeef McHenry having this date appeared and submitted the following names <br />as new appointies of the fire department and having informed the Board that they <br />#ave filled all the physical requerements and been approved.by the pension Board <br />of the South Bend Fire Department, they are hereby approved by the Board to <br />become members effective October 1, 1966, Calvin James Everly 6f 716 Fairway, <br />South Beads John Samarich, 318 E. Irvington South Bend, and Charles J.'Steele, <br />215 No. Francis' Street, South Bend. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT- EARL PAFFENBA.CH RETIREMENT <br />Earl W. Paffenbach of the South Bend Police Department having filed with the <br />Board of Public Safety his notice of retirement, and said officer having bees <br />with the department since December 10, 1945, the Board hereby approved <br />retirement effective October 4, 1966. <br />SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS <br />Richard B. Gartner and Leslie R. Gorbics were approved as Special Police for <br />the City of South Bend. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - MONTHLY REPORT <br />Chief Hampton submitted his report for the month of August, 1966 and same was <br />approved by the Board. <br />STREET LIGHT-ING INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />The Street Lighting for the Airport Industrial Park was approved by the Board. <br />This will include 43 7000L Mere. Vapor. The cost ill be 43 at $ 3.75 which is <br />$16125 per month or $1,935.00 per year. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The following police applications were acceepted by the Board and ordered filed: <br />David Michael Molnar, Dennis Lee Severns and wayne Donald Utterback. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />The street light outage reports were approved and ordered filed. <br />There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />r <br />ATTEST: RICHARD J. , C <br />
