204 <br />September 6, 1966 <br />Labor Day having come on our regular meeting day of Monday, September 5, the regular <br />meeting of the Board of Public Works and safety was called to order at 10:00 <br />A. M. on Tuesday, September 6, with members Mr. James Bickel, Mr. Robert J. DuComb <br />and Mr. Lloyd Taylor present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read <br />and approved. <br />STREET LIGHT PETITION - 119 SPRUCE STREET <br />Mr. Wa lter Szymkowiak, 2nd Didtruct Coucilman, submitted a petition to improve a <br />street light in fromt of 119 Spruce Street . <br />Mr. Szymkowiak, also stated that there is need for alight in the alley going South <br />from Colfax at the dead end of the alley going East and West from North Walnut to <br />Spruce Street. This is the first alley North in back of West Washington Street. <br />Mr. Szymkowiak stated that the Boards cooperation in this.matter will be a big help. <br />to the citizens and the police Department. <br />The Board filed the petition and asked that it be referred to the Engineering Dept. <br />for further study and recommendation. <br />FOUR WAY STOP SIGNS AT ARDMORE TRAIL AND NORTH SHERIDAN <br />Mr. Szymkowiak also subm&tied a reminder on the petition requesting to have four- <br />way stop signs installed at the corner of Ardmore Trail and North Sheridan. This <br />petition was signed by several of the Councilman also. The petition also stated <br />that they expected full cooperation from the Board on this matter. <br />The Board filed the petition and referred same to the Traffic Engineer. <br />DIAMOND AVENUE = BAD SIDEWALK AND TREE STUMP <br />Mr. Szymkowiak submitted another complaint about the condition of the sidewalk and <br />a tree stump in fron of 617 No. Diamond Avenue. He feels that it is not safe for <br />anyone to walk there, especially in the dark. The owher of the property has been <br />notified before that this is very bad, as it has been that way sinne the storm <br />of 1962. 1. <br />This letter was referred to the Engineering department by the Board, who will con; -- <br />tact the man who awns this property. Mr. DuComb also requested a copy of the <br />letter. <br />STREET LIGHT PETITION - FORD AND BLOOMFIELD STS <br />Mrs. Kathryn Blough, City Clerk, submitted a petition signed by several residents <br />in the vicinity to have a brighter street light installed at Ford and Bloomfield <br />Street. <br />The Board referred this petition to the City Engineer for further study and <br />recommendation. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BOND <br />A special policeman's bond for Ferrel C. Kern was approved by the Board. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />The Street light outage reports for the week ware approved and ordered filed by the <br />Board. <br />POLICE APPLICATIONS <br />The following police department applications were ordered filed by the Board: <br />Jerome Allen Florkowski, David Eric Preble, Mark Spencer Wheeler, Joseph Alexander <br />Lyczynski and Harold Louis Grounds. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The following Fire Department application was Thomas Eugene Zdoniak <br />approved: . <br />
