July 11, 1966 <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety met in the City Hall at 10:00 A.M. with <br />all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and <br />approved. <br />FE ECDEPARTMENT - APPOINTMENTS <br />TheChiefof the South Bend Fire Department having this date recommended to the <br />Board, of Public Works and Safety the appointments to the Fire Department of the <br />following men, and having informed the Board that they meet the requirements <br />necessary for appointment to the Fire Department, the men here forenamed <br />are hereby appointed to the South Bend Fire Department to start their proba- <br />tionary period effective, July 16, 1966. <br />Edwin J. Kaczmarek, Jr. 803 Birchwood Avenue <br />Ervin J. Machowiak 414 South Behdix Drive <br />Russell E. Beery 310 South 36th St. <br />Stephen L. Sheets 1918 Randolph St. <br />Guy F. Chapman, Jr. 3614 Fellows St. <br />Larry S. Nitka 526 South Dundee St. <br />Mr. Nitka has been accepted ;with one reservation, that he gain three pounds <br />during his six months probationary 2eriod. <br />00 <br />REQUEST - STREET LIGHT <br />V A request was received Mrs. Mrs. Herald E. Miller for a street light in the <br />V 900 block of Twenty-first Street. <br />The letter was zeferred by the Board to Eugene Radecki. <br />PETITION - STREET LIGHT <br />A petition for a street light at Columbia and Dayton Streets was signed by <br />several residents. <br />The Board referred the petition to Mr. Eugene Radecki's Office. <br />,PETITION:REMOVAL OF NO PARKING BAN ON OLIVE ST <br />A petition for the removal of a no parking ban on the Westside of Olive. Street <br />240 feet north from the intersection of Olive and Western Avenue, From 6:00' <br />R.='Mt to 6:00 A. M. Monday through Friday and 12:00 Noon on Saturday to 12:00 <br />Midnight on Sunday.and signed by approximately 200 residents was received and <br />referred to Mr. Lloyd Taylor, City Engineer, for correspondence. <br />BOND SPECIAL POLICE - KINGSAFER <br />A Bond for Special Police Officer Robert L. Kingsafer was approved and ordered <br />filed by the Board. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPCpTS <br />The Street light outage reports for the week were approved and ordered filed <br />by the Board. <br />CHAIRMAN <br />ATTEST: RICHARD J.
