168 <br />April 11, 1966 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held at 10:OQA. M. <br />on April 11, 1966 with all members present. The minutes of -the previous <br />meeting were read and accepted. <br />REQUEST - FIRE CHIEF ARSON SEMINAR <br />The Fire Chief, Cecil McHehrry requested permission for Battalion Chief William <br />Diedrich and Battalion Chief Lowell Badman to attend the Arson Seminar <br />to be held at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, from April 25 <br />to 29th. <br />The Board approved the request. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - WILLIAM H DYER <br />William H. Dyer of the South Bend Fire Department,having previously been <br />promoted to the,Tank of Lieutenant of the Department, now presents to the Board <br />his resignation as such. Lieutenant. <br />Same is accepted and William H. Dyer is hereby reduced to the rank of Private <br />effective April 6, 1966. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT RAY SQJW0' 'R <br />Fireman Ray Scheuer of the South Bend Fire Department having submitted to the Board <br />of Public Works and Safety his resignation from the Department for the'reason <br />that he has completed twenty five years on the Department and wishes to enter <br />into retirement, same is hereby accepted effective April 151, 1966. <br />POLICE DEPARMMT - ARSON SCHOOL <br />A request from Chief Hampton to have Det. Serg't Robert W. Seals to attend the <br />University of Maryland Arson Investigation Seminar, to be held at the <br />University of Maryland April 25 through April 29, 1966. <br />Permission was granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE <br />The following Special Policemen for The Street Department were approved by <br />the Board of Works <br />Robert Clem Banasiewicz and Fletcher Coleman. <br />REQUEST - STREET LIGHT EATON DRIVE <br />A letter was received from Mr. Earl Winslow, requesting a street light on <br />Eaton Drive in the Garland Woods Addition East of Miami Street. <br />The Board referred the request to Gene Radecki for investigation and report. <br />APPLICATION - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />-An application for the Fire Department from Larry Stanley Nitka was received <br />by theBoard of Works and Safety and ordered filed. <br />STREET OUTAGE REBORTS <br />Street outage reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:15A. M. <br />
