150 <br />February 7, 1966 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />February 7, 1966 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. James A. Bickel and Lloyd <br />S. Taylor were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read <br />and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />AWARDING BID: FIRE DEPART►MNT ( AERIAL LADDER - 100 FT i <br />After examination of the bids by the Board, the Engineering Department <br />and the Fire Chief, it was the decision to award the bid as follows: <br />Midwest Fire & Safety Egpipment Co., Inc. CONTRACT 16-66 <br />Distributor for <br />Maxim Motor Division, Sewrave Corporation <br />1605 Prospect St. <br />Indianapolis, Indiana, 46203 <br />1 - Maxim Model F262LA-100 ft. all steel, all <br />hydraulic aerial ladder and equipment <br />Net Cash Price $41,333.30 <br />Including all alternates and also mounting <br />of Alternate "S" and deletion of Alternate <br />"At' - itemized on Bid <br />Total Price <br />$47,933.53 <br />TRAFFIC DIRECTOR REPORT: PROHIBITION OF PARKING —.S. RZw &_U-S 23. 31. <br />2. 20 -- <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, submitted a report with reference to <br />parking on Eddy Street, (S.R. 23), Michigan Street, (U.S. 31) Western <br />Avenue (S.R. 2) and Lincoln Way West (U.S. 20). <br />Following a study of these routes, it was his recommendation that parking <br />be prohibited at certain locations on these roads in order to reduce <br />certain types of accidents and congestion. - <br />It was his recommendation that upon approval of the Board that a <br />Resolution be executed and forwarded to the Indiana State Highway <br />Commission for approval. <br />Following this recommendation.the-Board approved the following Resolution: <br />RESOLUTION OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA <br />WHEREAS: Average daily traffic volume has increased and will continue <br />to increase on S.R. 23, U.S. 20, S.R. 2 and U.S. 31 in the. <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, and <br />WHEREAS: Proposed construction of medians and turn lanes will require <br />additional roadway, and <br />WHEREAS: Certain types of accidents as well as congestion will result <br />unless capacity is increased, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the Board of Public Works & Safety of <br />the City of South Bend that parking be prohibited at the <br />following locations: <br />I <br />1 <br />1 <br />
