November 20, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday <br />November 29, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were <br />approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION (HEARINGS ) <br />Mr. Richard Liszewski, Director of the Sub -Standard Division, appeared <br />before the Board with reports on -the following sub -standard dwellings: <br />With reference to property located at 616 Fellows Street, owned by Mary <br />Moore, Mr, Liszewski was granted permission by the Board to post this <br />dwelling as sub -standard. <br />With reference to property located at 2119 '1. Bertrand, owned by Ellis <br />�+ and Helen Shurn, Mr. Liszewski requested a 30 day extension in order to <br />CTd allow the owners sufficient time to make the necessary repairs. <br />Permission granted. <br />PARK DEPARTW NT: TREE TRII&ING ( NOTRE DAME AVENUE ) <br />Mr. DuComb, Board Chairman, directed that a letter be sent to Mr. Ralph <br />Newman, Park Department Superintendent, requesting that his department <br />trim the trees on Notre Dame Avenue, both sides of street, from South <br />Bend Avenue to Angela Avenue. <br />TheBoard explained to Mr. Newman that this request was not in the nature <br />of a city wide tree trimming project, but applied to this one location. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: SUSPENSION ( FIREMAN ERNEST R. REED ) <br />Fire Chief McHenry appeared before the Board and informed the Board <br />that Fireman Ernest R. Reed had been suspended from the Department on <br />November 24, 1965 for alleged violations of the Rules and Regulations <br />of the Fire Department. <br />Chief McHenry requested that the Board set a time for a hearing on the <br />charges. <br />After the Board has examined the alleged charges, a hearing date will <br />be set. <br />PETITION: STREET LIGHT <br />A Petition submitted by Mr. Charles Taylor and other residents of the <br />area requesting the installation of a street light at the corner of <br />Ottowa Court and Trinity Court was examined by the Board and referred <br />to the Electrical Department for examination and recommendation. <br />STREET LIGHT INSTALLATIONS & DENIALS <br />After due examination by the Engineering Department, the Electrical <br />Department and the Board, the following disposition was made with <br />reference to requests for street light installations: <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light in the 800 block of 25th Street, as <br />petitioned. <br />1 - 4000 lumen street light on 33rd Street between Vine and Pleasant, <br />as petitioned. <br />2 - 4000 lumen street lights on Linden Avenue_ between Lombardy and <br />Westwood Lane, as requested by Mr. Herczeg. <br />
