M! <br />September 7, 1965 <br />A regular meeting -of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday, <br />September 7, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. Robert J. DuComb and Lloyd S. <br />Taylor were present. Minutes of`the last regular meeting were read and <br />approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC CQUANY STREET LIGHTING PROPOSAL ( MISHAWAKA <br />AVENUE GREENLAWN TO IRONWOOD ) <br />The Indiana & Michigan Electric Company having submitted to the Board their <br />recommendation for the lighting of Mishawaka Avenue from Greenlawn to <br />Ironwood Drive and the same having been examined by the Board, same is <br />now approved, in part: <br />S - 21,000 lumen mercury vapor units on steel poles from Greenlawn <br />Avenue to 20th Street only, as shown on the schematic design attached. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: HOUSE MOVES ( OLIVER STREET & DOUGLAS STREET ) <br />Comes now Lewis Mitschelen, mover, and requests permission to move two <br />houses, as follows: <br />1. House from temporary location, south of Broadway on west side of Main <br />Street to 2101 Oliver Street, Lot #1, Rum Village Park. <br />Mx. John Humphrey, attorney, representing the remonstrators appearing to <br />remonstrate against said house move was present. Messrs. Shide and Derrickson <br />are the owners of the house which is described above in the requested move. <br />Mr. Mitschelen now advises the Board that the petition to obtain a permit <br />to more the above -described house is now withdrawn by the petitioner. <br />2. House from temporary location, south of Broadway on west side of <br />Main Street to 2101 Douglas Street, Lot 31 Southwest Addition. Owner <br />is Mr. Rodney H. Moyer. <br />Mr. West, Building Commissioner, appeared before the Board and advised <br />the Board that the proposed structure is in conformity with the Building <br />Code. It is not now a single dwelling unit but the owner has advised that <br />he will make the sufficient alterations to convert to a single unit. The <br />property will be re -sold. <br />Mr. Mitschelen advised the Board that Mr. Moyer had advised him that he <br />intended to spend approximately $4,000 in repairs to the structure. <br />Mr. John Humphreys, attorney, spoke on behalf of the remonstrators present <br />and advised the Board that the house was a large house and would detract <br />from the other dwellings on this street and, further, that there was no <br />assurance that the dwelling would be repaired and remodeled in a manner <br />to make it a credit to the neighborhood. <br />Mr. West submitted signed Notice of Public Hearing and Intent to move this <br />dwelling to the Board. Said notice was sent to surrounding property owners <br />as interested parties, accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />The following remonstrators were heard by the Board: Mes. Frank Goszewski, <br />Messrs. Thomas Roszewski and David A. Pairitz. <br />After hearing all who wished to be heard, the Board continued the hearing <br />until September 13, 1965 and requested that Mr. Rodney Moyer, owner of <br />the house in quest' -on, be present to present his plans in person and not <br />through Mr. Mitschelen, mover. <br />
