July 19, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, July <br />19, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last <br />regular meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. Vouchers <br />were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />F C UQF VI0 TIQN 0 , REGULATIMS OF FIRE DEPARMNT <br />( EDMUND GADACZ ) <br />The Board having heard the evidence and being duly advised in the premises <br />of violation of Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department at hearing <br />on July 13: 1965, finds that Private Edmund Gadacz, a member of the ---South <br />Bend Fire Department, is guilty of the charges contained in the specifica- <br />tions filed by the Chief of the Fire Department and he is suspended for <br />one day, effective June 16, 1965. <br />PENSION: SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT PENSION BOARD., EDMUND GADACZ ) <br />The South Bend Fire Department Pension Board having this date advised the <br />Board of Public Works & Safety -that Private Edmund Gadacz, a member of <br />the South Bend Fire Department, having been certified by the Pension <br />Board and the Chief of the South Bend Fire Department, Cecil McHenry, and <br />Dr. R. 'N. Spenner, a doctor for said Pension Board, and Dr. Spenner <br />having certified his findings of a medical examination to said Pension <br />Board, and the Pension Board thereafter on the 17th day of July, 1965, <br />having retired the said Edmund Gadacz upon,a monthly pension of $247.86 <br />per month, said Edmund Gadacz is hereby relieved of his duties as a <br />fireman on the South Bend Fire Department and retired by the Board, <br />effective July 19, 1965. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: TEMPMARY HOUSE STORAGE( L. D_.MITSCHELEN ) <br />Permission was granted to the Building Department to store two houses <br />presently located at the southeast corner of Main Street and Indiana <br />Avenue at a -site just south of Broadway on the west side of Main Street, <br />formerly the site of Hartman Coal Company, for thirty days. Both <br />sites are owned by E. J. Barany. Request for storage made by L. Mitschelen. <br />This temporary storage is requested because clearance of title on proposed <br />sites at Arnold and Donald Streets and Bruce and Donald Streets for these <br />houses is expected as of this date. <br />A formal request to move to the above sites will be presented to the Board <br />at a later meeting, probably by July 26, 1965. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION CWPLAINT <br />Comes now Grady L. Thompson, 627 Monroe Circle, to complain to the Board <br />that he did not receive proper notification when his property located at <br />1609 S. Franklin Street was demolished, and that materials that he wanted <br />to salvage were removed from the property. <br />Inasmuch as Mr. Liszewski was not present at the meeting at the time to <br />explain the situation to the Board, the secretary of the Board was directed <br />to request that Mr. Liszewski contact Mr. DuComb, Board Chairman, concerning <br />this property. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: INSTALLATIONS - TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />The following installations, having been made, were reported to the Board. <br />Recommendation for the installations have been approved formerly by the Board. <br />3 " Reserve for Drivers Test Mon -Fri 9 A.M.-5 P.M." signs on first 3 <br />meters;at Colfax on 100 N. Main Street, west side. <br />9 "No Parking This Side of Street" signs & Posts on east side of 700-800 <br />block Arnold Street. <br />
