6 <br />June 1, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Tuesday, <br />June 1, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting and the special meeting were read and approved. <br />Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: ATTEND QONFERENCE <br />Permission was granted to Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, to <br />attend the 50th Annual Building Officials of America Conference at <br />St. Louis, Missouri on j'une 6 - 11, 1965. Mr. Richard Liszewski, <br />Director of the Sub -Standard Division was also granted permission to <br />attend this, meeting. <br />SWB-STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Mrs. Lotte King, owner of property at 234 E. Sample Street <br />to advise the Board that she has three bids from contractors to wake <br />repairs on this property which is sub -standard. Sl-e further requested <br />a continuance in order to check bids and arrange for a loan to make <br />the necessary repairs. <br />After hearing Mrs. King, the Board continued this hearing for two <br />weeks at which time she must produce bids and building permit. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( BIDS ) <br />With reference to property located at 406-406z-408-40z E. Wenger <br />Street, Mr. Liszewski submitted two bids for demolition of this property. <br />He also advised the Board that he had been informed that there may be <br />a buyer for this property. The present owner is Mr. Wm. Hayes. <br />The following bids were received: <br />Richard Weaver <br />This bid is rejected for the reason that the Non -Collusion Affidavit <br />was not signed. <br />Chas. Clough <br />25412 State Road 2 <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />Mr. Clough,fil.ing the only <br />the provision that should <br />to repair the property, he <br />$645.00 - retain salvage <br />$695.00 - stack salvage <br />acceptable bid, is awarded the bid, with <br />the property be sold and the new owner wish <br />shall be permitted to do so. <br />BMtOVAL OF PARKING METERS ( OLD MACA SITE ) <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, the <br />Board approved the removal of 7-parking meters on the east side of <br />Main Street fram Wayne Street to the first alley north and 7 parking <br />meterston the north side of Wayne Street from Main Street to the first <br />alley east. This is recommended in order to provide space at this <br />location for a shed type pedestrian walkway. When construction of <br />the new parking ramp is completed, recommendations will be made <br />with reference to replacement. <br />PETITION: FOUR WAY STOP SIGN <br />A Petition from residents of the area for a four-way stop sign on <br />the corner of Ford and Meade was submitted to the Board and referred <br />to the Traffic Director, Clem Hazinski, for investigation and recommen- <br />dation. <br />SPECIAL POLICE CG MISSIONS <br />Special Police Commissions for Leroy.H. Batchelor and Mary Batchelor, <br />employees of the Humane Society, were approved, pending receipt of bonds. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
