Items 2, 3 and 4 were requested by Councilman Szymkowiak. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: STREET LIGHT PETITIONS ( HELD FOR FURTHER STUDY) <br />Petitions for street light installations submitted by Councilman <br />Szymkowiak and filed with the Board March S, 1965 for Prast, Huey, <br />Johnson, College, Meade, and Westmore Areas are being held in abeyance, <br />pending further study. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: TRAFFIC SIGNS <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, the <br />following traffic sign installations were approved: <br />No Parking signs by strapping to every other utility pole on the south <br />side of Sample Streer between Pennsylvania Railroad and Chapin Street, <br />(800, 900 and 1000 W. Sample - supplement yellow curb. <br />No Parking This Side of Street signs and posts on east side of High Street. <br />LETTER W :GGELDENT• FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />A letter complimenting the fire prevention class which Firemen John Gish <br />and Joseph Daly conducted for the custodial and office staff of Indiana <br />University, South Bend Campus on May 19, 1965 was sent to Chief McHenry <br />and copy of said letter submitted to the Board. <br />The letter was examined and ordered placed on file. <br />REPORT: DEPARTMENT OF WEIGHTS & MEASURES <br />A report for the month of April, 1965 from the Department of Weights <br />Measures was submitted to the Board, accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORTS <br />Street Light Outage Reports were accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />MEETING RECESSED <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was recessed at 11:50 A.M. in order that the members of the Board <br />could inspect the neighborhood of Gertrude Street with reference to <br />the proposed house moves to that area. <br />MEETING RECONVENED <br />The Board of Public Safety reconvened at 1:00 P.M. after having inspected <br />the neighborhood of Gertrude Street with reference to the proposed house <br />moves. <br />The following decision was made: <br />RE: BUILDING DEPARTMENT - PROPOSED HOUSE MOVES ( GERTRUDE STREET <br />The Board of Public Safety having set for public hearing the applications <br />of Lewis Mitschelen to move a house from 1606 S. Main Street,within the <br />City of South Bend to 2101 Gertrude Street, within the City of South Bend, <br />and, further, to move a house from 128 W. Indiana Avenue,within the City <br />of South Bend to 2029 Gertrude Street, within the City of South Bend, <br />and said applications -having come for public hearing this date and the <br />Board being duly advised in the premises and after hearing petitions of <br />petitioner, the Building Commissioner and other interested citizens, <br />the Board finds that to grant the petition would not be in the best <br />interests of the public health, safety or welfare. <br />Wherefore, the Board denies the applications for said permits. <br />
