z <br />March 1, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, 11arch <br />1, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last <br />regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were approved for <br />payment. <br />AWARDING BID: FIRE DEEAQ_ENT SEDANS. 1 TRUCK CONTRACT NO. 7-65 <br />After due deliberation, tabulation and consideration of the bids received <br />for the vehicles for the Fire Department, it was the decision of the Board <br />that the following vendor had submitted the best bid for the. City of <br />South Bend and that it met the specifications as set forth by the City <br />of South Bend. <br />It is therefore awarded as follows: <br />Romr Hammes CorD. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />GO 2 Cust. 500 4-Door 1965 Fords, middle line as per specifications, <br />delivered in South Bend less trade-in and taxes. <br />Total price with options installed $5,584.74 <br />1 2 Ton Ford F 100 Pick-up Truck as per specifications. <br />Total price with trade in and taxes, deli,,,,ered South Bend $1,518.00 <br />1 1965,Ford 2-Door Custom as per specifications, delivered <br />to South Bend, less trade in and taxes <br />Total price with options installed $i;625.12 <br />REPORT: TRAFFIC ENGINEER I WALK -WAIT SIGNALS, Sfilva)LE & CHAPIE STREETS <br />Following a request by Dr. Alex Jardine of the South Bend Community School <br />Corporation fortiralk-wait signals at intersection of Chapin and Sample <br />Streets, referred to the Traffic ET ineer for investigation and recommen- <br />dation, Iv1r. Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, submitted his report together with <br />a letter from Indiana State Highway Commission in which the request for <br />such an installation was denied. <br />Following this recommendation, the Board denied this request for walk wait <br />signals at Chapin and Sample Streets. However, in accordance with the <br />recommendation of the State Highway Commission,, of having the crossing <br />for school children at Chapin or Prairie Avenue south of the proposed <br />intersection and use Garst- Street which is narrower and would permit a <br />shorter crossing period, the Board referred this alternate proposal to <br />the Traffic Engineer for his investigation and recommendation. <br />The secretary of the Board was directed to forward a copy of the letter <br />from the State Highway Commission, together with the Board's ruling, to <br />Dr Jardine. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER - PARKING SIGN INSTALLATIONS <br />Following the recommendatfon, of the Traffic Engineer, the following <br />installations <br />nstallations were approved: <br />No Parking, wlArrows on west side of 1200 High Street. Remove <br />No Parking This Side signs in north half block and relocate other <br />signs so there are 5 signs & posts. <br />Install reflective 123:18 No Parking signs at 501 S. Eddy, (Bus Stop) <br />and 505 S. Eddy. <br />Yield signs & posts alu-northeast corner of Ironwood & Springbrook. <br />
