February 15, 1965 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, February 15 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and ordered paid to the various suppliers. PETITION• STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION APPROVED After examination by the Electrical Department and the City Engineer, a petition for a street light on Hass Drive between Rose and Fettering Streets is approved.' PETITIONS: STREET LIGHT INSTALLATIONS REJECTED The following Petitions for street lights after investigation by the Electrical Department and the City Engineer are hereby rejected: 1. Petition for street light at Junior Achievement and Y.M.C.A. .. building on Louise Street is held up pending completion of Y.M,C.A. Parking Lot lighting system to ascertain whether lights ib:.this Lot UO will be sufficient to illuminate the area. U 2. Petition for street light in the 300 block of Wakewa Avenue is rejected. This petition was referred to the Park Department for investigation and recommendation. A letter from Mr. Newman, Park Department Superintendent submitted to the Board rejected the suggestion that the Park, Department increase the voltage in their light in the Park at Wakewa. Mr. Newman stated that his budget would not be sufficient if additional lighting was affected in this park. He further suggested that the trees be trimmed to allow for more light in this vicinity. The letter was accepted and ordered placed on file and the secretary directed to write to Councilman Hunter of this decision. 3. Petition for additional lighting on Wenger Street & Hoffman Court and at 1222 Marietta Street. referred to the Electrical Department and the City Engineer for investigation and recommendation is hereby denied. FIRE DEPARTMENT; ATTEND MEETING (,SCHMIDT ) At the request of Fire Chief McHenry, permission was granted for Lieutenant William Schmidt to attend the Winnebago County Fire Chief s Association meeting at the Greater Rockford Airport, Greater Rockford, Illinois on February 24 and 25, 1965. He has been asked to speak on air crash rescue and all expenses will be paid by the Greater Rockford Airport. REPORT,: RESTAURANT LICENSES 11r. Molnar of the Health Department, appeared before the Board and reported that all restaurants had been checked for proper licenses for 1965 and all had complied with the exception of one which was damaged by fire and in the process of being repaired. Also, the "seasonal" restaurants had not yet complied but would be licensed prior to opening for business. The City Controller confirmed this statement. SPECIAL POLICE BOND RENEWAL Renewal of a Special Police Bond for Glen Francis Lowry was approved and ordered placed on file.
