February 15, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />February 15 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of <br />the last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved <br />and ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />PETITION• STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION APPROVED <br />After examination by the Electrical Department and the City Engineer, <br />a petition for a street light on Hass Drive between Rose and Fettering <br />Streets is approved.' <br />PETITIONS: STREET LIGHT INSTALLATIONS REJECTED <br />The following Petitions for street lights after investigation by the <br />Electrical Department and the City Engineer are hereby rejected: <br />1. Petition for street light at Junior Achievement and Y.M.C.A. <br />.. building on Louise Street is held up pending completion of Y.M,C.A. <br />Parking Lot lighting system to ascertain whether lights ib:.this Lot <br />UO will be sufficient to illuminate the area. <br />U 2. Petition for street light in the 300 block of Wakewa Avenue is <br />rejected. This petition was referred to the Park Department for <br />investigation and recommendation. <br />A letter from Mr. Newman, Park Department Superintendent submitted <br />to the Board rejected the suggestion that the Park, Department increase <br />the voltage in their light in the Park at Wakewa. Mr. Newman stated <br />that his budget would not be sufficient if additional lighting was <br />affected in this park. He further suggested that the trees be trimmed <br />to allow for more light in this vicinity. <br />The letter was accepted and ordered placed on file and the secretary directed <br />to write to Councilman Hunter of this decision. <br />3. Petition for additional lighting on Wenger Street & Hoffman Court <br />and at 1222 Marietta Street. referred to the Electrical Department <br />and the City Engineer for investigation and recommendation is hereby <br />denied. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT; ATTEND MEETING (,SCHMIDT ) <br />At the request of Fire Chief McHenry, permission was granted for <br />Lieutenant William Schmidt to attend the Winnebago County Fire Chief s <br />Association meeting at the Greater Rockford Airport, Greater Rockford, <br />Illinois on February 24 and 25, 1965. <br />He has been asked to speak on air crash rescue and all expenses will be <br />paid by the Greater Rockford Airport. <br />REPORT,: RESTAURANT LICENSES <br />11r. Molnar of the Health Department, appeared before the Board and <br />reported that all restaurants had been checked for proper licenses for <br />1965 and all had complied with the exception of one which was damaged by <br />fire and in the process of being repaired. Also, the "seasonal" restaurants <br />had not yet complied but would be licensed prior to opening for business. <br />The City Controller confirmed this statement. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BOND RENEWAL <br />Renewal of a Special Police Bond for Glen Francis Lowry was approved and <br />ordered placed on file. <br />
