Preston, Jr. <br />Joseph Paul Lewis <br />James Ronald Wedel <br />APPOINTMENTS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />appointment of the following to the South Bend Police Department: <br />Robert Sharpe - effective January 26, 1970 <br />Sammy Young - effective January 26, 1970 <br />David Allen Szymczak - effective February 1, 1970 <br />CADET APPOINTMENTS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />appointment of the following police cadets, effective October 1; 1969: <br />Richard Ward Badics <br />Kurt Douglas Cruickshank <br />Timothy Lee Decker <br />Michael Louis Horvath <br />Thomas Edward Koehler <br />Martin Lee McMichael <br />EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE - POLICE OFFICER DAVID WAGNEROWSKI <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved an, <br />extension of sick leave on behalf of police officer David Wagnerowski for a <br />period of 90 days from the date of his surgery for a "fused disc." <br />SICK LEAVE - JOHN ANDERT <br />Police Officer John Andert having suffered pulled ligaments in the right leg <br />as the result of a fall on ice while on duty, upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of Chief of Police <br />Loren M. Bussert that Officer Andert be extended sick leave until his recover and <br />return to duty. <br />STATISTICAL REPORT - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Statistical report for the month of January, 1970, for the Police Department <br />was reviewed by the Board and ordered filed. <br />SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - GLEN FRANCIS LOWRY <br />The commission of Glen Francis Lowry as a special police officer was reviewed <br />and referred to the Legal Department for recommendation regarding the question <br />of "self employment." <br />JANUARY 26, 1970 REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In reference to the request of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert on January 26, <br />1970, for the transfer of $335.00 from Account P-11 (services personal) to <br />Account P-57 (licenses), City Controller James A. Bickel recommends that this <br />cost of $335.00 be applied to Account P-722 (motor equipment). Thereupon, the <br />motion was made, seconded and carried that the request for the transfer from <br />Account P-11 to Account P-57 be denied. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up. <br />123 N. Jackson Street. Clem Winkowski, for Carl Dubail, owner of this property, <br />appeared before the Board and stated that if the contract buyer, Lue Williams, <br />does not fix up the property the owner will demolish it himself. Here Mr.' <br />Adamson interposed that bids have been received for demolition of the property and <br />are to be opened at this meeting. Mr. Winkowski was advised that at this late <br />
