January 12, 1970 CONTRACTS AWARDED FOR MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT All bids received on December 29, 1969, for miscellaneous equipment having been duly considered, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the Board approved the recommendation submitted by Richard B. Gartner, Street Commissioner for the award of contracts as follows: Item #1 4 - 8 to 10 cu. yd. dump bodies with hydraulic systems - to Neil's Automotive Service @ $10,124.24 Item #2 1 - 5 to 7 cu. yd. dump body with hydraulic system - to Fruehauf Corporation @ $ 2,340.00 Item #3 3 - 2000 gal. flusher tank with gasoline engine operated pump - to Streets and Roads Equipment Co. @ $13,125.00 Item #4 1 - Utility body for a 10,000 GVW Truck to Fruehauf Corporation @ $ 1,215.00 (For reasons of economy, all bids rejected for Item #5) O Item #6 3 - 16 cu. yd. packer bodies for 25,000 GVW Truck - to Ries Equipment Company @ $16,86o.00 Item #7 1 - 30,000# capacity implement trailer - to General Equipment Company @ $ 2,855.00 Item #8 1 - Utility body with 700# capacity telescop- ing hydraulic operated lift for a 7500# GVW truck -_to Impac International, Inc. @ $ 4,700.00 (Tabulation of all bids - opposite page) BUILDING DEPARTMENT REPORTS FILED Report of the Building Department for the month of December, 1969, and for the year 1969 were reviewed by the Board and ordered filed. "IN -KIND" RENT VOUCHERS FILED FOR FIRE STATIONS #5 AND #7 - A.C.T.I.O.N.,INC. "in -kind" rent vouchers for Fire Station #5`($169 62) and for Fire Station #7 ($200.00) for the month of January, 1970, were ordered filed. REQUEST TO OCCUPY PARKING SPACES ON MAIN STREET - TAYLOR CONSTR. CO. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of Taylor Construction Company, Inc., 520 E. Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, to occupy two parking spaces at meters #20 and #22 on the east side of Main Street, 100 feet north of Western Avenue for a period of approximately 90 days during construction of a new building for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study and recommendation. DISCONTINUANCE CENTRAL STATION STEAM HEATING SERVICE - INDIANA & MICHIGAN ELECTRIC COMPANY Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, notice received from Indiana and Michigan Electric Company, addressed to the Board of Public Works and theCity Water Works and the Board of Public Works and the "Civic" Theatre, under date of January 9, 1970, to the effect that it is seeking permission from the Public Service Commission to discontinue its central station steam heating service, was referred to the City Engineer and to the Legal Department for study and recommendation. TRAFFIC SIGN APPROVED - BROOKFIELD AT BERGAN Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of Traffic Engineering for the replacement of a "yield" sign on Brookfield at Bergan Street with a "stop" sign.
