11/24/69 <br />PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY - DONALD F. HICKEY <br />The petition of Donald F. Hickey, 130 E.-Angela Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />to vacate the north -south alley, in the 400 block of Lincolnway West, to the <br />east -west alley from Taylor Street, was filed with the Board and, upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried was referred to the City Engineer for <br />drawing to locate utillties and then to be forwarded to the Area Plan <br />Commission for recommendation to the Board. <br />AWARD OF CONTRACTS FOR GASOLINE AND FUEL OIL - CONTINUED <br />The recommendation of the Purchasing Director in reference to gasoline and <br />fuel oil bids received November 17, 1969, was reviewed. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the award of contracts was continued until December 1, <br />1969. <br />PURCHASE OF TWO -WHEEL MOTORCYCLE FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPROVED <br />No bids having been received on November 17, 1969, the Board approved the <br />purchase of a two wheel motorcycle for the Police Department on the open market. <br />A quotation having been received from McDaniels Harley Davidson, Inc., 1636 <br />0 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, and having beep examined by the Board <br />and by Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert and found to6reeasonable and within <br />t'wt he specifications, the Board approved the purchase of a 1970 Harley Davidson <br />Model FLPF two wheel motorcycle for a total cost of $2302.95 from McDaniels <br />Harley Davidson, Inc. <br />NOTICE OF HEARING ON PETITION OF ELDEN A. CANDLER AND OTHERS FOR ZONING <br />VARIANCE <br />Notice of a hearing at 4:30 P.M., December 3, 1969, in the Council Chambers, <br />City Hall, on the petition of Elden A. Candler and others for a zoning variance <br />addressed to the City of South Bend as an adjacent property owner (City <br />Retention basin) was referred to the City Engineer. <br />PARKING RATE INCREASE - GREEN ARROW PARKING INC. <br />Notice of increase in parking rates from 50� to 75� as posted by the sign on <br />City License No. 17 for the parking lot located on Michigan Avenue, received <br />from Green Arrow Parking, Inc., 120 LaSalle West Building, Room 604, South Bend, <br />Indiana, was ordered filed. <br />COMMUNICATION - JOSEPH A. ROPER TO FIRE CHIEF JOSEPH L. ZURAT <br />Copy of communication from attorney Joseph A. Roper under date of November 21, <br />1969, to Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat in reference to duties of firemen was <br />read and ordered filed. <br />AUTOMOBILE DAMAGE - SHIRLEY FRESHOUR <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Clerk was directed to forward to <br />Aetna Casualty Insurance Company, for attention, a letter from Mrs. Shirley <br />Freshour, 1921 Hartman Drive, South Bend, Indiana, addressed to the Board of <br />Public Works and Safety, claiming tire damage because of a hole in the street. <br />DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT - CENTRAL DOWNTOWN PROJECT INDIANA R-66 <br />The following communication from the Department of Redevelopment was ordered <br />filed and a copy sent to the Engineering Department and the Building Commissioner: <br />"In accordance with the requirements of the Redevelopment of Cities <br />and Towns Act of 1953, as amended, I am hereby notifying you that the <br />declaratory resolution of the Redevelopment Commission was recorded <br />on October 29, 1969, in Book 252, pages 526 and 527, and that the <br />Urban Renewal Plan for the Central Downtown Project was recorded <br />on November 6, 1969, in Book 252, page 650 through 704. From <br />the date that these were so recorded any real property or improve- <br />ments thereon involving either new construction or remodeling <br />are subject to the controls, restrictions and objectives of the <br />Urban Renewal Plan as recorded. <br />"In light of this, may we request that the Department of Re- <br />development be advised of any lotions contemplated by your Agency <br />involving real property falling within the R-66 project." <br />(signed) Howard Bellinger, Executive Director." <br />
