VW <br />THIENEMIAN <br />April 28, 2016 <br />Mr. John Huston, P.E. <br />Arcadis, U.S. <br />132 East Washington Street, Suite 600 <br />Indianapolis, IN 46204 <br />Subj: South Bend Secondary Treatment Improvements <br />Discovery of Asbestos Material —Notice of Delay <br />Dear Mr. Huston: <br />During recent removal work in the Aeration Gallery, TCI discovered some insulation on water piping in the <br />North End of the Gallery that had been compromised The material has been tested and found not to be <br />hazardous. Also, while removing a portion of the 101' Nitrification Sludge Return piping as part of the <br />contract work, TCI discovered gasket material thought to be potentially hazardous. TCI had the gasket <br />material tested and the material does in tact contain Asbestos (report attached). <br />Per General Conditions article 4.06 Hazardous Environmental Condition at Site, Sub paragraph D, please <br />consider this correspondence proper notice that the contractor, TO has encountered a Hazardous <br />Environmental Condition.
