45 <br />r <br />March 10, 1969 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 A.M. on <br />March 10, 1969, with Lloyd S. Taylor and S. J. Crumpacker present. The minutes of <br />the last meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPEN BIDS FOR STREET MATERIAL <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for street material as follows: <br />Item #1 - 301,000 tons hot asphaltic concrete <br />Item #2 - 7,200 tons limestone aggregate <br />Item #3 - 240,000 gallons emulsified asphalt <br />Item #4 - 200,000 gallons dust control oil or oil -based concentrate to produce <br />equivalent gallons <br />Item #5 - 40,000 tons various gravels and ice control sand <br />Item #6 - 2,000 tons street patching material <br />Item #7 500 cubic yards of ready -mix concrete (Class A) <br />200 cubic yards of ready -mix concrete (Class B) <br />the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-county <br />Nevis on February 14, and February 21, 1969, which were read and found to be sufficient. <br />Bids were received from the following companies: <br />American Oil, South Bend, Indiana <br />Bituminous Materials, South Bend, Indiana <br />Bitucote Products, St. Louis, Mo. <br />Bill Brinley, South Bend, Indiana <br />Cass County Stone Corp., Logansport, Indiana <br />Emulsified Asphalts, Inc., Chicago, Illinois <br />'Kuert Concrete, South Bend, Indiana <br />McKesson Chemical Co., Chicago Hgts., Illinois <br />McMahan Construction Co., Rochester, Indiana <br />Material Service Division, General Dynamics Corp., <br />North Central Concrete Corp., South Bend, Indiana <br />Parkway Asphalt, South Bend, Indiana <br />Pierceton Equipment Co., Laketon, Indiana <br />Rieth-Riley, South Bend, Indiana <br />Seneca Petroleum Corp., Chicago, Illinois <br />South Bend Sand and Gravel, South Bend, Indiana <br />Walker Corporation, East Chicago <br />Western Indiana Aggregate, Lafayette, Indiana <br />Chicago Hgts, Illinois <br />'Bids were opened. GVW tri-axle cab and chassis <br />one - Continuous mixing slurry machine <br />the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-county <br />News on February 21 and February 28, 1969, which were read and found to be sufficient. <br />Bids were received as follows: <br />The bid of Romy Hammes Corp., 244 S. Olive St., South Bend, Indiana, was opened. <br />Non -collusion affidavit and bid bond of 10% of the total bid were found to be <br />sufficient. The bid being as follows: <br />One - 1969 Ford cab & chassis - 60,000 GVVV $13,487.53 <br />Delivery 120 days after order at assembly plant <br />The bid of Slurry Seal, Inc,, P.O.
