` Ft <br />2/3/69 <br />APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Applications for appointment to the Police Department by William John <br />Murrmann and Paul Stephen Watson were filed and referred to the Personnel <br />Director for further processing. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CHECK PROTECTOR AND SIGNER <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of the Controller to advertise for bids for a check protector and check <br />signer for the Controller's office. And the Clerk was directed to adver- <br />tise for bids in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on <br />February 7 and February 14, 1969, to be received on February 17, 1969. <br />RE: CUMULATIVE SEWER FUND - ORDER OF STATE BOARD OF TAX COMMISSIONERS <br />Copy of Order of State Board of Tax Commissioners "IN THE MATTER OF - <br />A PETITION OBJECTING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A CUMULATIVE BUILDING AND <br />SINKING FUND FOR THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA, <br />PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 146, ACTS OF 1967, AS AMENDED, <br />CIO,, FILED OCTOBER 22, 1968," reading in part as follows: <br />*,*,the State Board of Tax Commissioners does now find <br />against the petitioners in opposition and does now approve <br />the establishment of the cumulative building and sinking <br />fund and said tax levy. Dated this 30th day of January, <br />1969. State Board of Tax Commissioners, Carleton L. Phillippi, <br />Commissioner, and Durward S. Strang, Commissioner." <br />was ordered filed. <br />RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS - CITY OF SOUTH BEND VS. HURWICH IRON COMPANY <br />Release of all claims submitted by Hurwich Iron Company, Inc., in exchange <br />for payment of $375.00 for damages to a Police car resulting from an accident <br />June 13, 1968, was signed by the Board. <br />DELINQUENT RESTAURANT LICENSES <br />The City Controller submits a list of 37 restaurants not having obtained <br />a city license for 1969 as of January 31, 1969. Following discussion, the <br />motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried that the eating establish- <br />ments which do not have a 1969 license from the City be ordered closed. <br />And the Clerk is directed to forward such list to the Police Department, <br />with the suggestion of=the Board that a police officer call at such <br />restaurants to advise them of this fact if a license is not obtained immediately. <br />SPECIAL POLICE PROCEDURES <br />A report from Chief of Police Thomas McNaughton setting out present procedures <br />in the appointment of special police officers was referred to the Legal <br />Department. <br />STREET SIGNS APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the installation of street signs as follows: <br />30 MPH SPEED LIMIT signs on Hickory Road: (1) band to UP across <br />from 625 Hickory Road; and (2) install on steel <br />post across from 55410 Hickory Road. <br />NO PARKING signs (2) on the front of Fire Station #7, 803 <br />N. Notre Dame. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />ORDER TO CONSULTING ENGINEER <br />PETITION OF CHARLES L. BECKWITH FOR IMPROVEMENT OF ROSEMARY LANE <br />City Engineer Lloyd S. Taylor files with the Board his recommendation that <br />the petition of Charles L. Beckwith and others for the improvement of <br />Rosemary Lane from 100 feet north of Peachtree Lane to Oakpark by construct- <br />ing a Class C pavement with curbs be granted. <br />
