Colfax <br />Committee Chair Oliver Davis called the meeting order with four (4) items on the agenda. <br />Bill No. 52 -16: Portage Ave. Rezoning & Special Exception <br />Keith Chapman, Area Plan Commission with offices on the 11th Floor of the County -City <br />Building, served as the presenter of this bill. The petitioner is requesting to rezone from PUD <br />Planned Unit Development and MU Mixed Use to MU Mixed Use. On site is currently a <br />building and vacant land. To the north of the site are single - family homes zoned SF2 Single <br />Family as well as a parking lot zoned MU Mixed Use. To the east are single family homes zoned <br />SF2 Single Family. To the west are single family homes zoned SF2 and MU Mixed Use. Mr. <br />Chapman provided images of the site which are on file with the City Clerk's Office. The site <br />plan and proposed building sketch are also on file with the City Clerk's Office. This bill comes <br />to the Council with a favorable recommendation from the Area Plan Commission. Rezoning this <br />site to MU Mixed Use will allow for the reuse and redevelopment of an underutilized building <br />and vacant land. The special exception use will serve the residents and retail users of the site. <br />The proposed development will fill a need in the neighborhood for affordable housing and local <br />retail.
