April 12, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., on April 12, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR COMPUTER SYSTEM <br />RENTAL AND SERVICES <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of the Police <br />Department for permission to advertise for bids for data processing equipment <br />and services for the Police Department was approved. <br />May 3, 1971, was the date set for receiving bids, and the Clerk was directed <br />to give notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County <br />News on April 16, and April 23, 1971. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES - REQUEST TO ATTEND CONFERENCE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of Bert S. <br />Cichowicz, City Sealer, to attend the 58th annual conference of the Indiana <br />Association of Inspectors of Weights and Measures in Michigan City, Indiana <br />April 21, 22 and 23, 1971, was approved. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Richard Liszewski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />736 N. Frances Street. Wallace J. Mitchell appeared before the Board as re- <br />quested. Following discussion with Mr. Mitchell regarding the repair of the <br />building or its demolition, Mr. Bickel moved that the matter be continued one <br />week to permit Mr. Mitchell to make arrangements with the Sub -Standards Director <br />to inspect the building and work out a schedule of what is to be done. The <br />motion was seconded and carried. Mr. Mitchell was advised that his failure <br />to comply would result in the structure being considered for demolition at <br />the next Board meeting. <br />616 Kizer Court. Neither Thomas nor Jessie Pulliam appeared as requested. <br />Mr. Liszewski stated the tenants had moved out and left the property in a <br />bad condition. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards <br />Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at <br />616' Kizer Court. <br />305 Wenger Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the Midwest Demolition Corporation <br />is willing to demolish.the structure at 305 Wenger Street for $587.00 per its <br />bid of June 22, 1970. Thereupon, the motion was made,seconded and carried <br />to execute the contract of June 22, 1970, with the Midwest Demolition <br />Corporation for the demolition of the structure at 305 Wenger Street for <br />$587.00. <br />622 Euclid. Mr. Liszewski reported some work has been done toward cleaning <br />up these premises. It was therefore moved, seconded and carried that the <br />matter be continued indefinitely but kept under surveillance of the Sub - <br />Standards Department. <br />2515 W. Grace Street. Mr. Liszewski reported the property has been boarded up <br />but that no improvements have been made. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the matter was continued one week for the purpose of getting in con- <br />tact with the owner to determine if there is any reason existing why the <br />Board should not order the structure demolished. <br />Demolition bids opened: <br />This being the time set, bids were opened for demolition of the following <br />properties. Non collusion affidavits were examined and found to be proper. <br />The bids were as follows: <br />
