i <br />12/21/70 <br />Mrs. Delinski objected to the construction of the cul de sac stating that <br />it would leave no place for them to park and that their gate entrance would <br />then be onto the street. <br />Mrs. Jonas made no objection. <br />Having heard all who wished to be heard, Mr. Crumpacker moved that Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3331, adopted October 19, 1970, be finally ratified and con- <br />firmed on condition that the Department of Redevelopment construct cul de sacs <br />in Chapin Street and Catalpa Street on the south right of way line of the <br />Penn Central and New Jersey, Indiana and Illinois Railroad. The motion was <br />seconded and carried. And the City Engineer was directed to prepare an <br />assessment roll. <br />RECOMMENDATION ON BIDS FOR 1971 AUTOMOBILES <br />The Engineering Department and a representative of the Police Department having <br />reviewed the bids for 1971 automobiles received December 14, 1970, the City <br />Engineer files with the Board a report and recommendation. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, action by the Board on the bids was tabled. <br />PARK DEPARTMENT - ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY ON ST. LOUIS BOULEVARD <br />The Park Department files with the Board of Public Works and Safety the follow- <br />ing resolution: <br />"RESOLUTION EXPRESSING DETERMLNATION TO <br />ACQUIRE REAL ESTATE FOR PARK PURPOSES <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, That it has been deemed necessary to purchase <br />certain real estate within the City of South Bend, Indiana, for park <br />purposes, described as follows, to -wit: <br />A. A lot or parcel of land, 44 feet in width, north <br />and south, taken off of and from the entire length <br />of the south side of Lot 141 as shown on the re- <br />corded plat of Edward Sorin's Second Addition to <br />the town of Lowell, now within and a part of the <br />city of South Bend, Indiana. <br />B. A lot or parcel of land 22 feet in width, north <br />and south, taken off of and from the entire length of the <br />north side of Lot numbered 141 as shown on the re- <br />corded plat of Edward Sorin's Second Addition to the <br />town of Lowell, now within and a part of the city of <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />C. Also, a lot or parcel of land 22 feet in width, <br />north and south taken off of and from the entire <br />length of the south side of Lot numbered 140 as <br />shown on the recorded plat of Edward Sorin's <br />Second Addition to the town of Lowell, now within <br />and a part of the city of South Bend, Indiana. <br />WHEREAS, the three parcels described in the above legal <br />description are needed for the planned enlargement of the Kelly Playfield <br />located in the northeast section of the City, and <br />WHEREAS, funds are available in the cumulative capital <br />improvement fund for the purchase of park land, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PARK <br />COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, that the Board of Public Works <br />and Safety is hereby requested to acquire said real estate for park <br />purposes. <br />Adopted December 11, 1970. <br />s/ Richard J. Pfeil, President <br />BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS." <br />It was moved, seconded and carried that the Board of Public Works and Safety <br />acquire, on behalf of the Park Department, with cumulative capital improvement <br />fund money, the properties described in the above Resolution. <br />
