! t5 <br />Special Meeting - September 8, 1970 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 7:30 <br />P.M. on September 8, 1970. Present were Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, and <br />James A. Bickel, City Controller. <br />Also present were John Worley of Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc., con- <br />sulting engineers, and approximately 45 interested residents. <br />Mr. Taylor, Chairman, stated the purpose of the meeting was to hold a public <br />hearing on the following Resolutions: <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3323 - HUMBOLDT STREET; <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3324 - OLIVE STREET SIDEWALK REPAIR; <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3325 - ALLEY BETWEEN HUEY AND O'BRIEN. <br />The Clerk of the Board tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Be.nd Tribune and the Tri County News on August 21 and August 28, 1970, <br />for each of said Resolutions, which were read and found to be proper. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3323 CONFIRMED - HUMBOLDT STREET <br />r"4 <br />00 <br />For the improvement of Humboldt Street, from Elmer to Huey, by constructing <br />tom+ <br />a Class C pavement with curbs. <br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and the Clerk having <br />C� <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice which were found to be sufficient, <br />the Board decides that the benefits to the property liable to be assessed <br />for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of the same as reported <br />by the City Civil Engineer, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Improvement Resolution <br />No. 3323, adopted on August 17, 1970, for said improvement is in all things <br />confirmed as passed and the Improvement ordered made. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3324 CONFIRMED - OLIVE STREET SIDEWALK REPAIR <br />For the improvement of Olive Street, from the first lot south of Ford Street <br />to Western Avenue, by repairing concrete sidewalk and curb. <br />Rev. John Moskal, Pastor of St. Adelbert Church, 503 S. Olive Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, and approximately 12 other interested property owners attended <br />the meeting. <br />Mr. Taylor, Chairman, explained the cost of repairing the sidewalk and curb <br />will be at $8.00 per foot, of which amount the City of South Bend will pay <br />75% and the property owners will be assessed 25%, or $2.00 per foot. <br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and the Clerk of the Board <br />having tendered proofs of publication bf notice which were found to be <br />sufficient, the Board decides that the benefits to the property liable to be <br />assessed for said improvement are equal to the estimated cost of same as re- <br />ported by the City Civil Engineer, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Improvement <br />Resolution No. 3324 adopted August 17, 1970 for said improvement be in all <br />things confirmed as adopted and the improvement ordered made. <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3325 (CONTINUED) - ALLEY BETWEEN HUEY AND O'BRIEN <br />For the improvement of the alley between Huey and O'Brien Streets, from <br />Humboldt Street to the tee end, by constructing a Class C, Type 1, concrete <br />pavement. <br />Approximately 30 persons attended the hearing. <br />A remonstrance bearing the signatures of Eddie Slake, 1216 N. Huey Street <br />and 35 others was filed with the Board. <br />After hearing all persons interested who appeared and the Clerk of the Board <br />having tendered proofs of publication of notice which were found to be <br />sufficient, the motion was made seconded and unanimously carried to continue <br />the hearing until 7:30 P.M. on September 22, 1970, for further study as to <br />the feasibility of constructing drains at either end of the alley. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting ad- <br />
