1152 <br />8/17/70 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of Allen Gene Viduka for appointment to the South Bend Fire - <br />Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director <br />for further processing. <br />P&LICE DEPARTMENT - REPORTS <br />Police Department statistical report for the month of July, 1970, traffic <br />report for July, 1970, and a crime survey report in the LaSalle Park area <br />under redevelopment covering a period from 1966 .thr.ough 1969 showing a <br />decrease in offenses reported were reviewed by the Board and ordered ,filed. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for appointment to the South Bend Police Depart- <br />ment were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for <br />further processing: <br />Robert Anthony Johns <br />Christine Carter McCullough <br />Kenneth Aloysius Nowalk <br />COMPLAINT - JOHN McCARTNEY <br />John McCartney, 1133 W. Bryan Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the <br />Board and complained of the condition of the sewer and the street at the <br />intersection of Bryan and Inglewood and of weeds and trash on vacant lots <br />on the west side of Inglewood. The Board will look into the matter. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD BLOCK PARTY - PARK AVENUE - MANITOU PLACE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Mrs. Charles M. Veen, 803 Park Avenue, South Bend, Indiana'to <br />close Manitou Place on August 20, 1970, for a block party from 6:30 P.M. <br />to 9:00 P.M. <br />BOARD MEETING - LABOR DAY <br />Monday, September 7, 1970, the regular Board meeting date being a legal holiday, <br />the motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried that the Board meeting <br />which would normally be held on Monday, September 7, 1970, be held on Tuesday, <br />September 8, 1970. <br />STREET LIGHTING APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department for street lighting as <br />follows: <br />Area bounded by LaSalle, Eddy, Sorin and Twyckenham: <br />Install 39 - <br />7,000L <br />MV OH WP <br />21 - <br />7,0001- <br />MV OH WP <br />6 - <br />20,0001- <br />MV OH WP <br />Remove 38 - <br />4,0001- <br />INC OH WP <br />7 - <br />6,000L <br />INC OH WP <br />at a cost to the City of $1,524.60 per year. <br />Area bounded by Ewing, Prairie and Webster: <br />Install 13 - 7,000L MV OH WP <br />2 - 7,000L MV OH WP <br />7 - 20,0001- MV OH WP <br />1 - 20,0001- MV OH WP <br />Remove 20 - 4,0001- MV OH WP <br />at a cost to the City of $527.40 per year.. <br />
