O'Brien will retire on August 1, 1972. The Clerk was instructed <br />to send a letter to Robert O'Brien expressing appreciation for his <br />years of service to the city. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Seals was present and matters pertaining to his department were <br />discussed. <br />RETIREMENT OF SGTS.MELVIN PASALICH AND NORMAN COLLMER. <br />The chief presented the following letter: <br />July 31, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building ' <br />Gentlemen: <br />Attached please find retirement applications and declarations <br />for Sgt. Melvin Pasalich and Sgt. Norman Collmer. Lt. Pasalich <br />is retiring after 21 years, 3 months and 22 days. Seals <br />Chief of Police <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />accepted the recommendation of Chief Seals and approved the re- <br />tirement of Sergeant Melvin Pasalich and Sergeant Norman Colmer <br />with regret. The Clerk was instructed to write to both retireees <br />expressing appreciation for their years of service to the city. <br />RETURN OF KENNETH E. McDONALD, JR. TO CADET'PROGRAM <br />The Chief informed the Board that Police Cadet Kenneth E. McDonaid,Jr. <br />has completed his military service in the United States Army and has <br />requested re -instatement in the Cadet Program as of August 1, 1972. <br />Upon Motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the Chief's <br />recommendation and reinstated Kenneth E. McDonald, Jr. to ;the Police <br />Cadet Program. <br />LETTER FROM KennETH R. DEVOE. M.D. <br />The Board received a copy of a letter to Chief Seals from Kenneth R. <br />DeVoe, M.D., wherein he stated that the Executive Committee of the <br />St. Joseph County Support Your Local Police Committee, vigorously <br />upholds the actions of Officers Sharpe and Wagnerowski, and asked <br />that the officers be returned to active duty.
