• 0 <br />• <br />July 31, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened <br />on Monday, July 31, 1972 at 9:30 A.M. Those present were James V. <br />Barcome, City Controller, and William J. Richardson, City Engineer. <br />Mr. Richardson chaired the meeting. Minutes of the last meeting <br />were read and approved. <br />BIDS ON POWER STREET SWEEPER <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for a Power Street Sweeper <br />for the Street Department, and only one bid having been received, it <br />was opened and read as follows: <br />Tennant Company, 1 Tennant 92 Power Sweeper <br />701 North Lilac Drive as per specifications <br />Minneapolis, Minnesota 55440 $10,066.50 <br />Non -Collusion affidavit was found to be in order, and a certified <br />check in the amount of $1,107.31 accompanied bid. Proofs of pub- <br />lication of notice were tendered by the Clerk and found to be <br />sufficient. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bid was referred to the <br />Street Commissioner for study and report. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Bland appeared before the Board and matters pertaining to.his <br />department were discussed. <br />RETIREMENT OF FIREFIGHTER OSCAR TETZLAFFY <br />The Chief presented the following letter: <br />July 29, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />13th Floor, County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Re: Firefighter Oscar Tetzlaff <br />Honorable Board Members: <br />Attached hereto please find the Application and Declaration for <br />retirement of the above named firefighter. He wishes to make his <br />retirement effective August 1, 1972. <br />Firefighter Tetzlaff has completed twenty-four (24) years of_ <br />service on the South Bend Fire Department. He was appointed on Aug- <br />ust 1, 1948, and his birth date is June 28, 1913. <br />1 recommend that his retirement be granted, which I trust will <br />meet with your approval. <br />Thank ;you <br />Respectfully yours, <br />SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />JRB/ss s/ Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief <br />att. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation <br />of the Chief was accepted and the Retirement of Firefighter Oscar <br />Tetzlaff was approved as of August 1, 1972. The Clerk was instructed <br />to Write to Oscar Tetzlaff expressing regret and thanking him for his <br />years of service to the city. <br />
