205 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />2/9/72 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the use of the <br />condemned buildings in the above letter was approved. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - USE OF HELICOPTER LIFTS <br />The following letter was presented: <br />February 8, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Attention: Mr. W. J. Richardson, City Engineer <br />RE: Helicopter lifts at the American National Bank Building and the <br />Sherland Building, Sunday February 13, 1972. <br />Gentlemen: <br />We propose to lift by helicopter five (5) pieces of heating and air <br />conditioning equipment on the roof of the American National Bank <br />Building from their lot just west of and adjacent to the Building. <br />This would be done by Midwest Helicopter Airways, Inc. who are <br />insured up to $1,000,000.00 of public liability and property damage <br />and they will act as our sub under contract with, us. <br />We would like to remove a burned out electric motor from the roof of <br />the Sherland Building and replace it with a new one just after the <br />setting of the units on the bank building, and this operation would require <br />the closing of Jefferson Street at Michigan, Wayne Street at Michigan <br />and Jefferson Street at Lincolnway East. <br />This whole operation would begin at 8:00 A.M. and would be completed <br />well before noon. Jefferson and Wayne Streets would not have to be <br />closed until 9:30 A.,. <br />Moping this meets with your approval and if so, we will make necessary <br />arrangements with the City Police to control traffic and pedestrians <br />at the site. <br />GES/lm <br />Very truly yours, <br />0.
