110 <br />October 26, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M. on Tuesday, October 26, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of <br />the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTION-- JOHN LEDERER AND ARLETTA TAYLOR <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />promotion of John Lederer to the rank of sergeant effective November 1, 1971, <br />upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert; also the <br />promotion of Arletta Taylor to the rank of sergeant effective November 1, <br />1971. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />transfer of $7,600.00 from Account P-12 (services personal) to the following <br />accounts: <br />Services contractual - P-262 (medical, surgical and dental) - $1,000.00 <br />Supplies - P-323 (ttres'and tubes) - $ 800.00 <br />Properties - P-722 (motor equipment) - $5,800.00 <br />and the request was referred to the Legal Department for the preparation of <br />appropriate ordinance for the consideration of the Common Council. <br />The request of the Police Department to transfer $46,850.00, Services Personal, <br />from Account P-12 to Account P-11 was received and ordered filed, such transfer <br />requiring only corrective action in the office of the Controller. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - PRICE QUOTATION FOR TWO REPLACEMENT'VEHICLES__ <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the quotation of Don Medow Motors, <br />Inc., 1935 Lincolnway-East, South Bend, Indiana on two 1972 Madador four door <br />Sedans at a total for the two units of $4,976.48,;for replacement vehicles <br />for the Police Department, was referred to the Legal Department for <br />recommendation. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - MODIFICATION OF FRONT DESK AREA <br />Following discussion, Mr. Bickel moved the Police Department be authorized to <br />seek bids for remodeling the front desk area of the Police Department. The <br />motion was seconded by Mr. Crumpacker and carried. Mr. Taylor voted against <br />the remodeling. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were <br />filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further <br />processing: <br />Martin Vincent Banicki Douglas Bruce Wray <br />Lee Ann Bryar Edward Geer Dunbar <br />Robert L. Byers William Davis McDonald <br />Daniel Lee Dews Richard Gene Shamory <br />APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following applications for <br />appointment as special police officers were referred to the Legal Department <br />for recommendation: <br />Carrie Virginia Jones <br />- employed <br />by <br />Robertson's Store <br />Robert Gammage <br />- employed <br />by <br />Groceteria <br />Stanly'_T. Bogucki <br />- employed <br />by <br />South Bend Tribune <br />Edward Leroy Cole <br />- employed <br />by <br />South Bend Tribune <br />
