110 October 26, 1971. A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 26, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT - PROMOTION-- JOHN LEDERER AND ARLETTA TAYLOR Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the promotion of John Lederer to the rank of sergeant effective November 1, 1971, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert; also the promotion of Arletta Taylor to the rank of sergeant effective November 1, 1971. POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the transfer of $7,600.00 from Account P-12 (services personal) to the following accounts: Services contractual - P-262 (medical, surgical and dental) - $1,000.00 Supplies - P-323 (ttres'and tubes) - $ 800.00 Properties - P-722 (motor equipment) - $5,800.00 and the request was referred to the Legal Department for the preparation of appropriate ordinance for the consideration of the Common Council. The request of the Police Department to transfer $46,850.00, Services Personal, from Account P-12 to Account P-11 was received and ordered filed, such transfer requiring only corrective action in the office of the Controller. POLICE DEPARTMENT - PRICE QUOTATION FOR TWO REPLACEMENT'VEHICLES__ Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the quotation of Don Medow Motors, Inc., 1935 Lincolnway-East, South Bend, Indiana on two 1972 Madador four door Sedans at a total for the two units of $4,976.48,;for replacement vehicles for the Police Department, was referred to the Legal Department for recommendation. POLICE DEPARTMENT - MODIFICATION OF FRONT DESK AREA Following discussion, Mr. Bickel moved the Police Department be authorized to seek bids for remodeling the front desk area of the Police Department. The motion was seconded by Mr. Crumpacker and carried. Mr. Taylor voted against the remodeling. POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: Martin Vincent Banicki Douglas Bruce Wray Lee Ann Bryar Edward Geer Dunbar Robert L.
