<br />A communication from Mrs. James A. Woods, President of the"South.Bend Area
<br />Council P.T.A., 635 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, in reference
<br />to a sidewalk in the 600, 700 and 800 blocks on N. Ironwood Drive was read
<br />and ordered filed.
<br />COMMUNICATION - MUSICAL PRODUCTION "HAIR"
<br />A communication from Rev. Leland R. Kennedy, Twin City Baptist Church, 420 E.
<br />Jefferson Boulevard, Mishawaka, Indiana, was read and ordered filed.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - BIG BROTHERS OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />Big Brothers of St. Joseph County, Inc., Room600 Sherland Building, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to hold a parade on Saturday, October 9, 1971, commencing at 3:00 P.M.
<br />at the Grand Trunk Station on South Street and proceeding north on Michigan
<br />Street to the Morris Civic Auditorium, and authorized the use of a reserve
<br />fire truck and granted permission for a police escort, on condition the Board
<br />is provided with evidence of proper insurance to hold the City harmless.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD HOMECOMING PARADE - ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />Mike Klosinski, Homecoming Chairman, for the St. Joseph High School, 1440 N.
<br />Michigan Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to hold a homecoming parade on October 15,
<br />1971, leaving from St. Joseph High School and proceeding to Tupper Field, on
<br />condition the Board is provided with evidence of proper insurance to hold the
<br />City harmless.
<br />STREET LIGHTING APPROVED
<br />100 block of West Monroe Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
<br />Board approved the recommendation of the Engineering Department for the
<br />following:
<br />Temporary lighting
<br />Remove - 4 10,000 L INC U G SP
<br />Install - 1 20,000 L MV OH WP
<br />Replacement lighting
<br />Install - 4 20,000 L MV UG SP
<br />Remove - 4 10,000 L INC UG SP
<br />Rosemary Lane. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the Traffic .Engineering Department for the installation of two
<br />7,000L" MC OH WP street lights on Rosemary Lane north of Edison Road at a cost of
<br />$84.00 per year.
<br />Calvert Street, at alley. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board
<br />approved the reinstallation of a street light on Calvert Street at the alley east
<br />of High Street at a cost of $3.75 per month.
<br />TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the following
<br />traffic regulations:
<br />Installation of stop sign on North Shore Drive, north of Angela.
<br />Installation of parking meter on the south side of the 300 block of
<br />West Jefferson Boulevard, just west of Lafayette Boulevard.
<br />Prohibit parking on the north side of the 100 block of E. South Street.
<br />EXCAVATION PERMITS DENIED - BUILDERS UNITED (CHARLES HOWELL)
<br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that no excavation permit be
<br />issued to Charles Howell or Builders United Enterprises until their check of
<br />$55.00 be made good.
