89 <br />September 27, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M. on September 27, 1971, with all members present. <br />The next regular meeting date October 11, 1971, being a legal holiday, it <br />was moved, seconded and carried that the Board meet at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday, <br />October 12, 1971. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - RESIGNATION <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board accepted and <br />approved the resignation of patrolman Fred J. Stockbarger from the South <br />Bend Police Department as of the close day September 30, 1971. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL PARKING SPACE <br />Police Department personnel having need for additional parking space at <br />Municipal Services Facility, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />matter was referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR TRANSFER OF $3,000.00 - TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />}� request of the Traffic Engineering Department for the transfer of $3,000.00 <br />;1-+ from the General Fund to Account T-726 (other equipment), and the Legal <br />Department is directed to prepare an ordinance for the consideration of the <br />Common Council. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Richard Lis wwski, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />1033 Hudson Street. Norma H. Swank Reuter appeared before the Board as re- <br />quested and stated that she and her husband intend to repair the property <br />and have finished some of the repairs. Robert Prue, Mrs. John Wagner and <br />Mrs. Jacob Mady, living in the neighborhood, appeared before the Board and <br />complained of the condition of the premises and asked that the structure <br />either be repaired immediately or torn down. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the matter of 1033 Hudson Street was continued four <br />weeks on the condition that the owners make substantial progress toward <br />reconstruction of the property immediately and keep the yard free of debris. <br />1629 S. William Street. Mr. Ottbridge, land contract buyer, appeared before <br />the Board and gave permission for demolition of the property. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 1629 S. William <br />Street. <br />220 E. Paris Street. Thomas Taylor appeared before the Board as requested <br />and stated he has closed the property many times but it has been broken into <br />and damaged. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter <br />was continued one week to permit Mr. Taylor an opportunity to decide what to <br />do with the property. <br />1813 Robinson Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carra.ed, <br />the matter of 1813 Robinson Street was continued four weeks on the condition <br />that the property be properly secured. <br />412 E. Calvert Street. Neither Donald James nor Gervae James appeared as re- <br />quested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimous Ty carried, the Sub -Standards <br />Director was directed to post the premises at 412 E. Calvert Street as unfit <br />for human habitation. <br />2601 W. Lawton Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />matter of 2601 W. Lawton Street was continued one week. <br />702 S. Clinton Street. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the <br />structure at 702 S. Clinton Street. <br />
