<br />South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain any facilities, including, but
<br />not limited to, the following: electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer, surface
<br />water control structures and ditches, within the vacated right of way, unless
<br />such rights are released by the individual Utilities.

<br />PETITION FILED TO VACATE A PORTION OF E. WESTERN AVENUE - DEPARTMENT OF,
<br />REDEVELOPMENT
<br />William E. Slabaugh, on behalf of the Department of Redevelopment, 1200 County
<br />City Building, South Bend, Indiana, files with the Board a petition to vacate
<br />E. Western Avenue from S. Michigan Street to Lincolnway East. Upon motion
<br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the petition was referred, simultaneously,
<br />to the Engineering Department and the Area Plan Commission for study and
<br />recommendation to the Board.
<br />"SPACE FAIR"
<br />Copy of a letter addressed to the Office of Public Affairs, Washington, D.C., by
<br />John R. Kagel, Executive Director of the Downtown South Bend Council, 320 W.
<br />Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, under date of September 15, 1971,
<br />relative to the forthcoming "Space Fair" was read and ordered filed.
<br />Said "Space Fair" is scheduled to be conducted from 8:30 A.M. to 4:45 P.M.,
<br />October 4, 1971, through October 23, 1971, in cooperation with the South Bend
<br />School Corporation which will conduct lectures in the Central Junior High School
<br />auditorium and displays in conjunction therewith will be on the first floor of
<br />the County City Building.
<br />MRS. LEE SWAN
<br />Mrs. Lee Swan, 2022 Swygert Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the
<br />Board and further objected to the inspection of homes under the Code Enforcement
<br />Act, stating that she challenges the right to enter a private dwelling.
<br />STREET LIGHT PETITION - 1600 BLOCK OF FLORENCE AVENUE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the petition of Lucy Johnson, 1633 Florence
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, and 13 others, for a street light in the 1600 block
<br />of Florence Avenue was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study
<br />and recommendation.
<br />TRAFFIC REGULATION - CHAPIN STREET PARKING - 6:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.
<br />Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert reports to the Board that the prohibition of.
<br />parking on the east side of the 100 to 300 block of Chapin Street between the
<br />hours of 6:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. has accomplished the desired objective of
<br />allowing increased traffic flow without major penalty to business or residents.
<br />The matter was continued until September 27, 1971, for further report and
<br />recommendation from the Traffic Engineering Department.
<br />CONTRACTORS' BONDS
<br />Contractor's bond on behalf of S. E. Price as principal and Western Surety Company
<br />as surety, dated September 14, 1971, upon motion made, seconded and carried, was
<br />disapproved by the Board.
<br />Certificate continuing the contractor's bond of Cohagan Equipment Company, Inc.
<br />to 10/6/72 was approved by the Board.
