June 14, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety -convened at <br />9:35 A.M., with all members present. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />The application of Douglas MacArthur Johnson for appointment to the South <br />Bend Fire Department was filed with the Board and referred to the <br />Personnel Director for further processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for appointment to the South Bend Police Depart- <br />ment were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for <br />further processing: <br />Gary M. Cottrell. <br />Hartley Frank Kane <br />Gerald John Stull <br />qd4 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />- PROMOTION <br />e-� <br />2f� <br />Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the <br />promotion of <br />w <br />Daniel Jay Williams <br />to the rank of sergeant <br />was approved <br />by the Board upon <br />V <br />the recommendation <br />of Chief of Police Loren <br />M. Bussert. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />- RETIREMENT <br />Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the <br />Board accepted <br />the application and <br />approved the retirement <br />of Donald A. <br />Cornelis from the <br />South Bend Police <br />Department effective June <br />16, 1971. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - CADET APPOINTMENTS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the appointment of the <br />following cadets to the South Bend Police Department, effective June 16, <br />1971, was approved by the Board upon the recommendation of Chief of Police <br />Loren M.
