1440 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 31, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, <br />December 31, 1973 with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Seitz present. Minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />AWARDING OF BID - BUREAU OF STREETS TRUCK <br />The Board received a recommendation from Donald Decker, Street Commissioner, <br />that the bid of Gates Chevrolet Company for $2854 for a One Ton Truck be accepted. <br />Mr. Decker indicated that their bid was $54 higher than the bid from International <br />Harvester, but from the standpoint of service and the earlier delivery date, <br />he felt the bid should be awarded to Gates Chevrolet. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board accepted the recommendation and awarded the bid to the <br />Gates Chevrolet Company on their bid of $2854.00. <br />AWARDING OF BID - BUREAU OF STREETS TRACTOR <br />The Board received a recommendation from Donald Decker, Street Commissioner, <br />that the bid of Southlawn Ford Tractor for a tractor with a diesel engine at a <br />price of $7100.00 be accepted. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board accepted the recommendation and awarded the bid to the Southlawn Ford <br />Tractor and Equipment Company on their low bid of $7100.00. <br />AWARDING OF BID - BUREAU OF STREETS MOWER <br />Donald Decker, Street Commissioner, recommended to the Board that the bid of <br />Deeds Equipment Company for a rotary mower be accepted. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board awarded the bid to the Deeds Equipment Company <br />on their low bid of $4705.00. <br />REQUEST TO ATTEND BOCA CONFERENCE <br />The Board received a request from Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, that <br />he be allowed to attend a BOCA Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on <br />January 3 and 4, 1974. There will be no cost to the City. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board approved the request. <br />CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE FILED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted and filed a <br />Certificate of Insurance from 0. J. Shoemaker, Inc. for the Board of Sewage <br />Treatment Plant Commissioners. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />The following recommendations for traffic control devices were received from <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting: <br />A. 25 M.P.H. Speed Limit on St. Joseph Street from Monroe to LaSalle. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the installation was approved. <br />B. Installation of Stop Sign on Greenlawn at Bader. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the installation was approved. <br />CONTRACTOR'S AND EXCAVATION BONDS APPROVED <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, <br />that Continuation Certificates for the following bonds were in proper order and <br />could be approved: <br />CONTRACTOR'S EXCAVATION <br />Edward C. Hermann to l/l/75 Marion Hamilton & Sons to 12/31/74 <br />Northern Indiana Public United Heating & Plumbing to :T/1/75 <br />Service Co. to 12/31/74 Earl C. DeVan to 12/31/74 <br />McCaskill and Beard Const. to 12/5/74 B & G Const. Co. to 12/31/74 <br />B & G Const. Co. to 12/31/74 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bonds were approved to the dates <br />listed above. <br />
