7
REGULAR MEETING
OCTOBER 1, 1973
of the Board to the fact -that there was a fatality at the Mishawaka Avenue-
26th Street intersection last week end. The lighting is partially obscured
in that area, which is a high accident area. Mr. Miller asked the Board if
there was a possibility that the light at that corner intersection could be
replaced with an overhead light and if the work could be done ahead of
schedule as an emergency situation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried,
the Board referred this matter to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for
immediate review and recommendation.
COMPLAINT - DAMAGE TO SEWER AT 116 SOUTH STREET
Mr. Jewell Williams appeared before the Board on behalf of his mother, Mrs.
Melinda Richardson, 112 W. South Street. Mr. Williams said that since the
construction of the South Main Street project, sewers have been damaged and
have backed up. Mr. Williams -said he consulted with Patrick McMahon, Manager
of the Bureau of Construction, and he was advised to contact a reputable
Roto#Rooter service. He did so and they found that the sewer is obstructed-
112 feet out and there is no opening. Mr. Williams said they would like some
action from the City to have the sewer repaired, since they were forced to move
their tenants out of the property at 116 South Street because there were no
sanitation facilities. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board directed
that this matter be referred to the Bureau of Engineering and to Morgan Peck
for immediate action.
There being no further business to come before.the Board, upon mot$on made,
seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
ATTEST:
CLERK
ollin E.
Farrand
mes V.
V
Barco
'IZI2
1
